Great job on the install! Grapples are a great tool, and investment for sure. You probably already know this, but your particular grapple is a rake grapple. Open completely, and dump or roll bucket cylinders all the way down, allowing the top portion of grapple to contact ground, then back up raking as you reverse. Really does a super job cleaning trash/ debris/ small limbs. 👍

Good work Andrew. I did mine just the opposite, ran to the rear and made hoes to go to the quick connects in the middle. One point is that there are o-ring seals for the solenoid valve where it is mounted to the loader valve. Yours appear to have remained in the loader valve so that is the seal. Sometimes they stick to the cap you removed. New seals are not part of the kit for some reason but the kit doesn't tell you to check them either.

Looks like its workin good. A lot of movement in them hydro lines up front when your activating the hyrdo. Perhaps a few of those spiral wraps they sell and see if you cant tie some to the grapple a bit to avoid all that slop. They are cheap on Amazon and have seen them used by several other channels (out of the Woods) to help dampen movement of hoses. All that movement will absolutely wreck those crimped fittings prematurely.

Happen to know if you can run the Lane Shark cutter with this setup? I have looked high and low but can’t find anything showing the 4066r hooked to a lane shark. Lane Shark sells the WR Long kit for this tractor but don’t want to give up my factory joystick for that grapple switch that I plan to get. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
@TKCL4 ай бұрын
You can't because I looked at that myself. You need a specific setup that dumps directly back to the sump. Apparently you run into hydraulic overheating issues if you run it like this. The best way to run one of those is with a power pack on the rear pto, but it gets very expensive that way.
@adambecton4 ай бұрын
@@TKCL thanks for the input. That helps a little. I know lane shark has the WR Long kit for my tractor but I don’t want all that add-on stuff. Wanted to stay as factory as I could.
@TKCL4 ай бұрын
@@adambecton you're going to need one of their kits for this to run properly and not overheat your tractor. I gave up on it and just invested in a mini excavator and brush cutter. Expensive, but I have many other uses for the excavator. Limb cutting is one of the biggest reasons I bought it though.

Andrew, I have an open station 4066R coming and the grapple I am contemplating is 1000 lbs. How much does yours weigh. I’ve skimmed through videos and comments trying to determine that.
@TKCL Жыл бұрын
Wow that's extremely heavy, I'm guessing mine is 800lbs, but that's a guess. Personally I'd be installing a 500lb range grapple to get your lifting capacity back.
@danlichtenberger6462 Жыл бұрын
I had thought the same and actually had an Artillian Grapple-Rake-Grapple set up ordered and just about shipped and they called me back and said the 4 series 4066R was too much tractor for their grapple and after much discussion we agreed to mutually cancel the order. The one I’m looking at is the 72” EZ Grapple from CLFab out of Iowa. I’m thinking that if I do purchase it I should get it as a skid steer attachment, then buy the adapter to JDQA and that way “if” it is just too much or I am disappointed in performance then I could be able to sell it to a skid steer owner. If I have them put the JDQA mount on it then it is relegated to only a compact tractor. I’m not sure if 5 series tractors have the JDQA set up. If not then that means the largest 4 series tractor can’t handle it then I have the worlds most expensive paper weight.

Hey Andrew, thanks for your videos, I find them very helpful and entertaining. I recently purchased a JD 4066m heavy duty. I've been a New Holland (tc45da) guy for many years but have been noticing how many folks like their JD so I made the switch. I'm a landscaper for new construction so I do a lot of loader work and wanted to get your option about something. I consider myself to be very efficient with the loader but noticed that the JD loader doesn't move but one direction at a time. If you are raising the bucket with a load of dirt or stone and you want to also dump as you are raising you don't that ability, is this the case with your 4066R? Is this common with John Deere? With my New Holland I could be moving the tractor forward of reverse while raising and dumping all at the same time. I didn't even consider that this would not be a industry standard. Thanks for your thoughts! Michael

Good morning Andrew. This may be a strange question but you'll know the answer. I was catching up on videos and watch the one with the grapple which I commented on. And you mentioned you put water in your tractor tires. I don't have a lot of experience with tractors, so my question is by chance on a really cold morning can the water freeze in the tires? 🤷. Hey you don't know if you don't ask. 😁

They make a liquid antifreeze ballast that most people use in colder climates. I'd imagine that is also in mine. Regardless does not stay cold enough long enough here to freeze that much water in my tires.
