add a 3/8" straight connector between the new line and the factory 3/8" to 1/2" elbow

Great job! I cannot justify paying 2-3 hundos for a freakin catch can. I have a ebay bought $20 catch can install on my built BMW F10, and does the job perfectly! lol

Nice! You could use push lock air hose fittings and with one of them as a 90 degree get em routed together leaving the separator . I have totally been delaying installing my 60$ Ali Express generic.✌️

Thanks for the comment and idea! Get on yours and help stop that oil from building up down the line!

Use the factory 1/2" elbow and use it instead of the straight pc

Yup and just use a 3/8-3/8 barb….but…I want to keep the factory piece as it is for easy swap back to stock. I’m just ocd like that. For others that don’t mind that is a great solution.

Hey man thank you for this guide I installed a cheap catch can as well. Question: I mounted my can to the coolant reservoir like you did but stripped the threads on the body of the car. I figured it out with some zip ties and 3m tape but I’m wondering if you know how to rethread them? Also thank you for the PCV explanation. I bought the one way valve and didn’t end up using it because it felt cheap.

You could try to re-tap the threads with the same size tap and die and maybe clean them out. Chances are you will need to drill out and re-tap/die to the next size up.

I don’t drive much and have been checking it. I see some oil on the baffle, and you will notice a minor noise under the hood from the air turbulating. I’m thinking of how and where to add the steel wool. Stay tuned to see how this thing is holding up!

Any update? How much oil you catching?
@CKDESIGNS2 ай бұрын
It catches a few ounces every few months. Super black watery in consistency. Definitely stuff you don’t want to burn off and dirty up your engine. I do more highway cruising than average so I imagine it will catch more if your heavier footed. I also recently added steel wool to the canister to see if it can help. So far it does not make much of a difference so I will probably just remove it. As much as I would love to make an update video, these videos just aren’t worth the time they take anymore. But thanks for watching.

@@CKDESIGNS excellent thanks for the update details!

@@magg992008I should also mention it catches carbon flakes/chunks. This also comes with a brass “stone” filter which can help catch even more, but I chose to remove it for pressure reasons. Either way a definite must for direct injection engines to save from the faster buildup of engine deposits.

Would u put some steel wool in there to filter
@CKDESIGNS Жыл бұрын
I’ve thought about it numerous times. It would help to capture more oil I imagine. Not sure it’s worth the risk of some stew wool possibly getting to the engine with my luck lol. Maybe get a good brand one.

Catch can does work just need to monitor during the winter season as it can collect water
