the truck is a 9300 series when the new hood was redesigned it was called the 9900 , those old truck rode like shit unloaded but would ride like a Cadillac when loaded!

When I first got my T600 KW with the N14 engine I would push the throttle down and the engine would suddenly jump up 500 rpm making a smooth start from a stop very difficult so I replaced the potentiometer on the gas peddle because it had a dead spot on it that gave the ECM a bad signal.

When u replace the ecm do u save the calibration off the old one and upload it on the new one?

I have a Cummins N14 in a 93 freightliner that cranks but is not getting fuel. The wire to the fuel shut off solenoid does not have power, and if I jump it direct it still won't start. Local truck shop told me to check the two fuses in the harness down by the starter, they are 10 amp and are good. Funny thing is when I checked them I tested the wires with a test light to see if I had juice to the fuse and both sides of the plug have power on both fuses, this seems odd to me. Everything else on the truck operates normal, any suggestions?

will this ECM sense different transmissions? We have a 96 and almost identical problems! interesting

ecms are programmed to a specific truck, the only thing that they could have in commun is the engine rating and horse power. using factory sofware you can copy and transfer all the OEM side parameters and program them to the new ecm, example. top road speed, cruise control settings, idle shut down, and if you have pro access, you can program the correct year, model and vin number to the new ecm.

I find it very ammusing when these "parts changers" think of themselfs as real techs, one thing this video does teach, is DO NOT THROW PARTS at a problem. having to go through a drive cycle tells me he didnt even have a hand held scanner, and he threw parts after parts until he got the truck running, yet he still doesnt know what took out the ecm, if in fact the ECM was bad, in 12 years of using FACTORY diagnostic and programming software, none of that bullshit hand held scanners made by the tool companies, Ive only had to replaced 2 ECM, one was taken out by a bad connection of the power door lock harness, the other one failed without warning. using factory software you could have saved thousands of dollars, you dont have to change the fuel shut off solenoid every 5 years, they always show warning signs before they fail, cummins insite could have detected that problem early enough. next time, take your truck to a shop that uses factory programming.
