I cannot say thank you enough. This video is MILES better than any other tutorial. - no cancerous music - you clearly show all steps - you get on with it quickly (no: "hey guys, what's up, before we begin, like and sub" etc) - the camera is always in focus - no awful sponsorship deals half way through - a good amount of humor "I know I make strange noises" Thank you so much. This video is a gem.

For hard to remove crank arms I spray bottom bracket axel (not crank arm) inside crankarm with instant freeze out of spraycan (buy at auto supply store). The freezing spray causes the bottom bracket axel to contract, and then it is relatively easy to use the gear puller to remove the crank arm. I don't think freezing the bottom bracket axel weakens or damages bottom bracket structural integrity, my bike has worked fine with no problems for many miles, but you can research the effect of freezing various car bolts etc.

This is a really old technique dating back to when some pedal hubs in Europe were lined with brass. It works amazingly well -- but first make sure if the tightness is due to thread direction. Some bottom brackets are threaded to tighten with the direction of traction.

Good video, but you want to put a torque arm on the front hub for safety from drop outs. I would be scared to take that bike to top speed without one.

The wire for the hub motor should be facing down to stop water from entering the motor.

Thanks. Great video. Taught me a lot. My upcoming conversion (first one) is non-pedal assist so it should be a little easier (NO crank struggle!).

Great vid, however the brakes needs to be e-brakes which cuts power to the controller when the brakes are applied. The controller should have a connector for these special brakes.
@doit_vehicles
@doit_vehicles 6 жыл бұрын
Yes that's important . On that bike , the back brakes are regular V brakes with cut-off power sensor though .

It looks like you were tightening a let hand threaded bolt when you were having difficulty removing the crank bolt. That's why it was getting tighter.

Your video was very well done.. However, two things. First, you really should put the front motor on a STEEL fork, which is stronger. Your motor may bend to suspension forks forward due to the forward forces of the motor. ALso, you really need to install a steel TORQUE ARM on the axle and fork to give strength to the axle forces that spin the axle. otheriwise very goo.

I can not say I should not do what you recomended , but I can say that the bike it was used a lot meanwhile (2 years) without any issues of that kind . Maybe because is just a 250 w motor ?

AWESOME VIDEO buddy. I just started my research on this conversion thing and found your video to be very helpful, answered almost all of my questions, now i know i can do it myself too. A few questions though. 1. Does your existing V break still good for the additional speed? 2. IF one has front disc break, will it still fit? 3. Where did u buy your kit, brand, price? 4. I'm only 5'4 so it looks like the 36V 250W hub will be plenty for me to putt around town. Keep up the good work !

Hei ! I installed disk brakes on the front and it did fit . This particulary one it was from ebay at that time , not the company does not sell anymore . 250w is not gonna be very fun to drive , but enough to take you a lot easier to destination ..

Hope people are aware that a front wheel motor fitted onto alloy forks may be a major problem, with forks failing at the drop outs due to metal fatigue. Ther have been fatalities due to this happening.
@doit_vehicles
@doit_vehicles 4 жыл бұрын
I sure those fatalities happened because those extra safety washers were not installed / more powerfull motors . The bike in the video has runned now 3000 + km without any issues 😎 .

I have a rear assist bike and im thinking to add a fron electric hub wheel, should i add controller too and fron brake hand?
@ggolds5
@ggolds5 4 жыл бұрын
I have an Ebike, the Ecomotion Core Pro eFat. The rear has a Bafang 500w motor on rear hub. A 48v battery. I would like to add a front 500w motor as well, so it's "2wd", and was wondering if I can connect this motor to existing wiring- brakes- throttle etc. The wheel size is 26 with a 4 inch fat tire. The wheel has those round holes on the inside like many of the fat tire bikes do. So I would think you have that wheel with a 500w motor?. Again if so, can I possibly connect a wheel with motor in the front to the existing electrics?. Thank you.

Thanks a lot for the information! But I was wondering.. You probably have to use these 2 levers that come with the kit, right? So you'll probably need a separated shifter (not intergraded in the lever) is that right? Thanks in advance!

Because you put the pas sensor on the wrong side of the bicycle and did not install it correctly. By this I mean you glued it on instead of installing it behind the fixed side bottom bracket nut. The magnets should be shiny side to sensor. If you want to install it on the other side crank it would be wiser to unscrew the sensor from its bracket and turn the sensor facing the other way, then putting the magnetic ring on shiny side facing the sensor for better sensitivity. Glue holding the sensor on will lead to a problem later.
@doit_vehicles
@doit_vehicles 3 жыл бұрын
It was not the best solution but on this bike the bottom bracket will slowly loosen if the sensor will be installed on it ..

hi there and thanks for the lovely vid. What top speed may be achieved lets say on flat ground which a top end power battery? When going downhill does this kit gradually slow down the bike, if we do not touch the breaks? I am searching for a product that does not reduce my speed but merely assists on low speeds and hills. Thanks again.
@doit_vehicles
@doit_vehicles 4 жыл бұрын
Hi ! I am glad you liked it . The hub motor is going realistically at around 25 km / h on a flat ground . Downhill I did not feel any slowing down because of the motor . It almost feels like a normal bike , except of the weight. The speed downhill can reach 30 km / h with some assist which will gradually dissapear with the increase of the speed .

Do any kits come with the battery? I've seen conversion kits for as low as US $215.00 but that was without the battery. Also, what is a reasonable price to pay for a conversion kit...prices with & without the battery? Batteries seem to cost in price range of $400-$600. Is that about right. Sorry for the questions, I'd like to do this but I am a noob for right now.
@doit_vehicles
@doit_vehicles 5 жыл бұрын
Hi ! Most of the kits will not come with the battery . The ones as 215 $ are without a battery . I bought the kit from the video with 520 £ pounds from ebay plus taxes and shipping it went up to 700 £ with battery and everything included . The prices of batteries will depend of capacity (how long they will last ) quality and who is selling . That's right 400 $ to 600$ is a regular price for a battery ; it might be cheaper if you build it yourself though ...

do the same as me .get a battery from ali express ......it has no case but comes with charger .....i use a bag for the battery . ..the battery is half the price of an already made and cased battery ....36v , 13 ah .was only 75 pounds .thats what 95 odd dollars....... but it can take a month to arrive. www.aliexpress.com/item/33004100275.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.34074c4dePWCx9
