I want to start off saying that I dont like anything about this build really, but I commend you on the work you did. Nothing is what I would want for myself but I can appreciate your craftmanship and I think you nailed the look you were going for. It's all well done I'm glad you're really into. This car came out great!! So unique. Folks at home, be super careful if you mess with a cheap spring compressor like shown in the video. You can go to a local shop and they use nice wall mounted ones that are way safer. Might be worth a few $$

The original springs would have sagged over the years. That's why the suspension looks taller than three inches. It is based on the original springs in "new" condition as it left the factory floor. VW does not know what loads people will put in their cars, so can't predict "actual" sag over any given period of time, neither can the replacement suspension manufacturers. They will have the new specs only. I too would never have done what you have done to this vehicle, though I have modified off-road 4WD's. To each his own. I do however appreciate your dedication, workmanship, thinking outside the box ideas and tenacity. Well done!

I would recommend fender flares. It’ll sling a ton of mud on the car and chip your fresh paint job. There’s a ton of universal kits that would look rugged and fit the build nicely

Looks great! You should make at jet ski with the same color scheme. Please put some rubber protection pads on the mounts to the roof rack. Great idea with a rear mounted spare tire, and crash bars.

I think a "Bull Bar" style guard on the front, and just a "straight" bar contoured with the vehicle lines in the back would be pretty cool and practical. A spare tire rack on the hatch would look cool, but you'd either need super beefy struts on the hatch, or make the rack a "swing out" style one so you can still open your hatch normally. That would require a lot of fab work though. I enjoyed the series, your beetle is a beastle now.

I'd say tint the rear lights a bit and maybe replace the chrome rings from the headlights with black ones or paint them - just things I'd change. I really like the build tho and am happy that you are happy how it turned out!

ok my 3 cents worth, the paint i agree it took it finished for me to like it. The only difficulty i have is the runs that came when you sprayed that final solution. i'm having a hard time with them. 2nd little advice the rock lights above the tires i think should be mounted on the outer side of well so that when if needed you have to work anything the light is not shining in your eyes last 2 thoughts are rear back up light down low and the front needs yellow fog lights oh comment for 2nd. i prefer time lapse mechanical to TL body work, LOL great job

I honestly love how it turned out. I think that one last finishing touch that would be really cool would be to place a spare off-road tire on the roof rack or maybe on the back. I would say maybe some rally style lights would look cool on the bumper, but you already have them on the rack, so maybe just a brush bar would be nice. Lastly, I would also suggest maybe some small fender flares to make the tires a little more flush, but that is just my personal preference.

You can always hook up a back up camera so this way if you can see your head you do you know exactly when they stop you don’t have to rely on somebody else.

A couple things to consider: make sure to use red thread locker on those adapter-to-hub bolts. Also, painting the chrome headlight ring to black would probably fit with your style better. Cool car, though.

I would give you a 10/10 score! Willing to chart your own route. I suspect we will see many more rust paint cars arise in the next years. I would recommend people study a few rusty vehicles first before applying the rust pattern… to try to mimic real rust formations

The winch sounds like fun. But remember they are heavy and it may drop your front end considerably. Probably be cool to do a bar with a cpl lights. No big weight there. Also, get the alignment checked. So you don’t demolish those new tires.

It looks great Zach, only thing I can think of that you might want to add, depending on your usage plans and what look you're going for, is maybe a winch along with the bumper bar at the front.
