Installing a Smart Switch

Replacing a regular light switch with a smart switch is super easy. Follow along with me and I'll show you how. But you MUST have a neutral wire (white) but just because it's white doesn't really mean that it is a neutral wire. The light I used and love amzn.to/2Wxrfo3

I was telling my son that when we were making this video. But what's really cool about smart switches is the apps. I have one installed for my covered porch lights and I can set it so once manually turned on it will turn off after 20 minutes. Schedules is another thing you can set up with these switches.

I was watching an older video about purging air from a boiler. I turn off the boiler but my circulatory pumps still run unless I shut off at the breaker. Do they need to be on to purge the air? I am concerned about that because my return pump is below my shutoff valve on the return. Great video. Thank you

The pump needs to be off to purge air, if you are opening valves to purge the air from the system, If you are purging air from the little aerators the pump can stay on...

No you will need to run a neutral

Please pardon my ignorance - Is there any safe way to install a smart switch (that requires a neutral wire) without a neutral wire? I haven't found an explanation yet that I can make sense of. It seems like I could split the power wire to connect to the line in connection and the neutral connection - but I don't want to burn my house down. Any thoughts, please?

No, you can't "Split the power" The neutral wire is extremely different.

If you don't find the neutral wire just use the ground. I'm just joking, don't do this, it's against every code book.
