What you need with your visor is a dash mounted traffic light viewer. Simple way to see the stop lights, old fashion cool and they start at like 8 bucks at Summit .

Im glad you found Jonathan W. He has an awesome channel,he has inspired me alot. The build is going great Im diggin it. I figured out today that a 235/75r15 is about the biggest tire that can be put on the back of a stock 55 Chevy Belair with minimal aggravation.The only thing I had to do was unhook the shock from the rearend and jack it up high from the frame. I had a thought,you could almost hide a blower under the 47 hood.

Great progress Danny, really enjoy the videos! You might want to check the angle degree on that first joint, it looks a little to tight on the video. You're there hands on, so you know more how it feels than me for sure. It may make it have hard spots turning the wheels. You'll know when you get to take it for a run.

I missed a couple shows. You are really rockin this build. Lot's of comments about ujoint angles and I would agree with them IF you where building a PTO for a winch or something that took a lot of torque but your not so I don't expect that to fail. Looking awesome buddy.
@captainlandyacht13284 жыл бұрын
When you sleeve that, cut the inner bar at 45deg at the mating surfaces. So when the unit turns the pressure isn't on the welds but the face surfaces inside the tube. Also on your brakes, why not get rid of the old pedal part and just fab one direct to the master cylinder. You could even put the MC next to the pedal and change direction of force. Seems like a lot of extra stuff that could fail. You could also use a 90deg PTO box to move your column from under your feet. Anyway I love the build, you are always doing something great.

Safer filing the spline, heat and bend the Pittman arm. Toss the weldment.
@waynespyker57314 жыл бұрын
Broach the splines? Most machine shops can manually broach additional splines if they are Bridgeport or similar equipped by grinding a tool blank and 'pumping' the quill if it is locked to prevent cutter rotation. Our shop (not the first) made a fixture that telescoped over the spindle and quill, split so cross bolts could lock both together preventing cutter (broch) rotation. A sturdy drill press could work if you could chuck the broach, prevent rotation and provide vise alignment/feed increments.

Vice grip garage has that old 53 dodge? And in the rescue video he showed his pedal assembly and under floor master. It's a single pot but it may have a better linkage to work with in the tight spaces. Sorta a horse shoe linkage rather than that huge ol lever. You'll probably get it working well enough with what you got though

I like the Duece shell (they make ‘em chopped as well. The Duece looks good and I always thought the big advantage is having a grill insert. Keeps the rocks out of the rad. The T and A shells (that’s Model T) were never designed to protect at more than about 45 mph. I expect yours will exceed it’s old limits.

You know if you file out the king splines in the pitman arm you can have adjustment to wherever you want it. The rest of the splines will keep it located. Then you don't have to cut and weld on the pitman arm. I meantion this because I broke a pitman arm and went into a ditch. I am still fixing my roadster, almost done though. Pitman arms are not a good place to take chances.

The only issue I see, with doing that brake arm like that is! Instead of having a hole to pass through, you will have a considerably bigger slot? I'm sure you can make it work though! As for the grill shells, I like the older one, but I guess it depends on the shape it's in? Looking good!

I would agree. I hate to be a critic but I used to sell joints for steering and I would back this statement the bearings will fail in the joint. If memory serves, the Borgeson unjointed website provides a lot of great info on this.

Steering box under dash. Stubby column straight into gearbjox. run shaft out side of cowl high with a sprocket on it, outside the car. Directly underneath on the frame mount a bearing, shaft, sprocket and your steering arm. Connect sprockets with chain. Zero steering stuff down by your feet. Bad ass chain and sprockets on the outside of car. And can play with the top and bottom sprockets to speed up or slow down the steering if needed. Right now that looks like 30 turns lock to lock.
