Installing an Escalade bumper on my regular cab Silverado - Desperado

I installed an Escalade rear bumper on my 2003 all wheel drive Chevy Silverado that I call Desperado. It has an Escalade front bumper, fenders, hood and grille along with the transfer case and front differential to make it AWD.
I’ve had some people ask for my address to send along something, so I thought I’d leave my address here incase you’d like to! I appreciate you guys.

I unfortunately can't tell you how I'd do anything different until I've done it myself because I'm unsure what challenges you're coming across but I will say on the rear bumper for that flange to the corner of the bumper I wouldn't mount it low since it would still allow for some flex. I'd weld a flange from the underside of the top part of the true bumper and make a rod with a hole on the end to bolt to the bumper

For those location sensors in the rear bumper install some led lights for back up lights that's what I did when my sensors went bad and they work really well

i bought new bumper pads and those plastic inserts are a pita to get in even when done carefully once they are buckled good luck getting them to seat than again im a moron so maybe thats it btw love the series

I found the same thing with this one, they get real weak and break off. I 2 way taped most of it on lol

Heat gun would work great for that. Once you get it to fit then you could make cuts and adjustments

Put your trailer connector on the cladding. Use it to hold them together

The bumper underneath an SUV, like the escalade, uses the same bumper as a stepside pickup. Just different mounting brackets

No sir. I have a step side and needed a rear bumper. After lots of searching the net, I found that information out. I found a clean one and swapped my brackets over and confirmed that it fits like the original. And they are just a bit narrower then the standard pickup trucks.

That’s awesome! I’ll keep an eye out for a stepside bumper so I can have one that’s not modified. I hated having to cut corners (pun intended)

I’d just get the steel bumper from a Tahoe, they are easier to find. Then swap the brackets from your original bumper onto them. For the corners at the bottom, I used some stainless steel and bent some brackets on an SS pickup I have, as the bumper covers on those mount the same way. Then I just used some 13mm bolts and nuts out of my bolt can, and bolted it together.

@@StationroadRatrods I got a 2003 Silverado that looks a lot like yours probably a little bit more rust on the panels so this whole set up that you’re doing with Escalade parts would really give it a facelift like you said who’s got $10,000 to throw down on another truck

SUV rear bumper and truck rear bumper are slightly different suv bumper is narrower that’s why it fit odd

@impalaboy101 they actually only fit the Escalade, the nbs (or nnbs) tail lights are bigger. I have to cut the entire back off the bed to weld the Escalade sections in for the lights to fit 🙂 It is a cateye truck yup.
