I am installing and reviewing the BXpanded Ripper attachment. I am using the Ripper with the BXpanded Quick-on bucket adapter. I purchased the Ripper to remove tree stumps in my yard of which I have many.
I was not paid nor asked to do this video.
You can purchase a Ripper or Quick-on adapter at www.bxpanded.com.

Thanks for posting this. The first thing I like is that this attachment facilitates quick changing of you bucket (not that SCUT/CUT owners have a number of buckets for their backhoes). 12" and less stumps make up a lot of my problems on my property. I'd really like to see how you did on a really big stump though.

AW HELLZ YA! Imma get me one of these! I can see how the ripper concentrates all the force on a much smaller area; very impressive to see the big roots snapped easily. I'd be a couple of hours trying to dig them up with just the bucket.

Nice demonstration what the BX ripper can do, impressive. Making me look at one now. Thanks for sharing the video.

I appreciate your video. Your time and effort to demonstrate this equipment is of high value to me. From what I see, the ripper yes, it does work. But I don't understand how it can save me any time not do what a regular bucket will do. If I extend out a foot or sometimes more from the stump, the roots are smaller and break easily at some point. Sure it may tear up more ground but to me, that is inconsequential. So in my case, I will stay with the bucket. Thank you again. Very good video. 👍

Hey bud that was awesome. I can see multi uses for this. First I'll have to talk the wife into letting me buy a backhoe for my tractor LOL, good video

I love my backhoe. I've dug through ground I never thought I would. They aren't cheap though. If you have the mower deck, there's a lot of upgrades you need to do. I got lucky in the dealership had no clue about the upgrades so they ate about $2000 buying them for me. The mower deck would've been operated by the boom control lever which would disconnect the boom to mow. Huge headache. The switch and hydraulic line reroute is the upgrade. You also have the seat upgrade to a swivel. Those aren't cheap either.

Safety Pins, if possible, should be inserted fron top , in case it unlock by hiting an object, the pin still in place.

This is what I need but BXpanded does not make the quick attach for Massey GC1710. Great video which I watched several times (smile). 👍

Nice video. My stumps are all at least 24" or much more in diameter. I have been digging a couple of feet out and using the standard bucket to break the roots and then a chain to pull out the stump. This would be great help after the digging is done to expose the roots.
@Dollarmkr
@Dollarmkr 6 жыл бұрын
I have struggled with larger stumps and do pretty much what you suggest. I use a combination of the ripper attachment and the front loader to expose the roots. Sometimes the front loader will finish the job after I weaken the root system with the ripper. I'll have to try the chain on the more stubborn stumps. Thanks.

Does anyone have the pin diameter and the center to center measurement of the retaining pin holes on the ripper? I'm looking at buying one for a skid steer attachment.

Wouldn't a narrower backhoe bucket been just as effective? I don't mean to sound rude, just a serious question. I was thinking of getting on of these. Do you still enjoy the quick attach? it was disappointing to see you had to bend the attachment to install it.
@DollarDIY

The quick connect, now that it is fixed, works great and saves me a lot of time on projects where I'm changing out attachments. The narrow bucket would be good for digging out around the stump and the full bucket is too large. The Ripper is great as I can get it under a root and when I pull it back it cuts or breaks through the root.

Hello. I'm thinking something like this could be handy around my property. Without the video edits or fiddling with the camera, how long did it actually take to remove that second stump? Thx.
@DollarDIY
@DollarDIY 4 жыл бұрын
Both of those stumps came out pretty easily. Probably 5 to 10 minutes for the second one. I have had stumps that I could not get out but I blame it on the power and weight of the tractor, not the ripper. This is especially true if there is a root that goes straight down and the ripper can’t get to it. Sometimes hitting it with the front loader will finish the job. I have buckeye and oak and the oaks are much more stubborn to get out. But 5e ripper does work on most stumps with no problems. I just took 4 out the other day. Good luck.

What do you think of that thumb? I'm thinking about getting one but not sure if the manual adjustment will really be that helpful and may even be in the way for digging. Looked through your videos and didn't see anything on it. Sorry if I just missed it. Thank you.
@DollarDIY

Hi. The thumb is great for picking things up (logs and such). It adjusts easily even though manual. I keep it set out of the way when digging but it does help when pulling stumps as I can push the stump against the thumb teeth and don’t have to worry about it pressing against the backhoe arm.

How big of a stump will it work on?
@DollarDIY
@DollarDIY 5 жыл бұрын
To cut a large stump I use the ripper to cut the roots that are extending to the sides. Once those are cut I dig around the perimeter with the bucket. From there I can use the bucket or ripper to rock the stump until it breaks free. A stump larger than 1 foot is a lot more work than one smaller and I have encountered one I could not get out (about 30" in diameter).
