Im keeping those OEM handguards. Love the huge bar weights, no vibes! To each their own on handguards, I always fun the flag style. Had I had full wrap arounds this past two weekends I would have ate shit really hard on my single track bike. I clip trees at a brisk pace with my flags, if they were solid they would have flung the bar at a fast pace thru the trees. All my offroad bikes, i move the levers 1/2" in front the bar end and just snug them for tightness, so if i do go down they move on the bars instead of breaking. 8 years offroad, 5 bikes lots of crashes no broke levers

This is getting me pumped for mod season, lol. Bark Busters or that Tusk version are awesome. The amount of scratches and gouges on my bark busters are a testament to their worth for sure. For the bar end, I ended up getting a spacer and a longer hex bolt. That allowed me to keep the stock bar weights. They stick out a lot, but I like that as they stand the controls and the busters up off the ground when the bike goes for a nap.

I think I remember seeing that in a video of yours? I contemplated doing that but didn't have a spacer laying around.

Swanky Cat, I used bar end weights from another bike that are about half the width of the stock KLR bar end weights to fill the gap. Thanks for the location of the different bar end bolts, I re used the KLR bolts and didn't like how those looked either. I'll fix that soon.

100% better than those standard bars I think Kawasaki buys on “ Wish”. and gotta say Recycling the old bars is a swanky move. Way to go, waste not Swank not!

Hey buddy. Awesome that you were able to reuse the barkbusters! So I had a similar issue on my silver ATV when I installed the acerbis uniko handguards. I wound up modifying and trimming the original plastic bar ends to fill the gap. Maybe you could find or 3d print something to do the same for you here. I really like the look of barkbusters. I have the jet shields on my Husaberg and man do they look good, lol. Will probably end up with these on the Beemer. Great video!

Thanks! Yeah I never imagined they'd end up on another KLR lol. I think I can actually get some bar end weights that will fill that gap and are heavier then the ones I've got but it hasn't really bothered me. I was going to buy some JET plastic covers for the Tenere since I took these but man are they expensive! $40 vs $75 for an entire set of Tusk D-Sport Adventures lol.

Did your clutch side weight fall off as easily? Just took the Allen out of mine and that weight is on there!

My klr gen 3 won't start I was able to jump start it and get it home but lcd screen was blank riding home do you know what electrical stuff I should check out or do?fuses are fine and terminals are tight

Hmm that definitely sounds like something is up. Either a bad connection somewhere or maybe even the ECU itself?

Nope, they got close to the other plastics up front but that was it.

How did you remove expansion type bolt from the bar end on your old handlebar ,mine stuck. I'm trying to swap it from my old versys.

Turn the bolt out a little ways and once a few threads are exposed tap the bolt head inward with a rubber or plastic mallet. That will dislodge the threaded part from the expanded insert.

Anybody have trouble removing the bolts from the end of the bars. My 2022 KLR stripped out the allen head and I had to cut the weighted end off and use a pipe wrench to get it the bolt out.

I have a 2022 as well. Getting the Allen out was a mother and my weights didn't just fall off like his did either

Heat gun. The bolts are installed with thread locker from factory.

In general, a pneumatic or electric impact driver is going to be your best bet to break stuck bolts free. But in this case that'd make a little nervous since it's an allen head.
