Installing BIG upgrades for winter vanlife | TITAN lithium 300ah leisure battery

I install the ultimate upgrade for vanlife which will keep me warm for winter, for longer.
I am no expert, i am an amateur campervan builder, but these popular vanlife upgrades will provide more comfort for when i am out during winter vanlife.
All processes shown in this video are my own, and all should follow and adhere to safe and best practice, i am not an expert and use my knowledge and experience to complete such tasks.

One problem that nobody talks about is how many amps these heaters in lithium batteries use on a cold frosty morning when the solar panels are producing very little energy the bigger, the battery, the bigger the heater, the more amps is needed to heat the battery 100 amp lithium, battery heater, usually drawers, 8 A. Most people have 200A batteries that means they need 16 A on a cold frosty morning when the solar panels struggling to produce 5 A so I think it’s important that people realise they need the DC to DC charger and run that in the morning to warm the battery up so that if any power is coming from the solar, it will go in the battery and not just be wasted in the heater that doesn’t heat up because it’s not getting enough amps. I have a 560 amp battery. It needs a lot of Amps to heat the battery. also solar charges need to be connected to the battery to know what voltage the battery is. 12 V or 24 et when it switches to the heater. The solar charger doesn’t know what voltage the battery is. Nice job van looks great Dave.☃️

Hey thanks so much for the comment. Yeah I don't think this heating pad takes that amount of current, although I will double check though.

Sorry for the wait for the answer! Our batteries have efficient heater mats; for Dave's battery, the heater takes up to 6A to fully power, and will take 20 mins or so (depending on temperature) to warm up sufficiently for safe charging. Instead of a set current, we allow the heater to operate at smaller charge currents; it just means the battery warm up time can take a little longer. Our latest batteries have an updated heating strategy, where the BMS can allow up to 3.6A of current from the battery capacity (if it's got enough capacity) if the charging current is not high enough for the heater to operate at a high enough level - mainly for those dependant on solar charging.

Always got an upgrade or 2 havnt you mate 😂 quick question seen as your the man to ask. Do you leave the diesel heater on all night? I personally think that's a perc of them but Han always thinks it will over heat 🤔 good to see your van looking healthy again. Catch ya next time.

Hiya mate, Oh yes, love an upgrade 🤣🤣 yes I leave diesel heater on all night. I set it to 23 degrees and the diesel heater will continue to maintain that temp all night. The diesel heater does need some sort of fresh air to it, whether that be cracking the windows open slightly or a window slightly. Dave 🤙
