Installing Blue Pine Shiplap on the Ceiling of an Off Grid Cabin

Life on the Moose

Күн бұрын

After installing blue pine (some may say blued-pine) shiplap on the ceiling in our LAST cabin build about a year ago, the off grid Ridge Cabin, it looked so good we decided to do it again! Yes, the Spur Cabin also gets treated with beautiful blue pine. The character and color of these boards are spectacular, and I'm confident you'll agree.
I also bought a new tool, thanks to Harvey, a WWII 101-year-old veteran who enjoys Life on the Moose, and prefers that it sticks around. If you've been around Red Moose Ranch awhile, you may remember Harvey donated to the channel so that we could upgrade a couple failing windows in the Ridge Cabin last year. So once again, thank you, Harvey! I'm humbled. MUCH, much appreciated.
So check out this video to discover an awesome blue pine ceiling, stunning scenery, a cool new tool, great music as usual, and a host that's without a doubt, barely acceptable (this is where I would normally insert a smiley face) ! And if you get a second, let me know what you think of this ceiling, and if you've ever used blue pine on any of your projects.
Thank you for watching ‪@LifeontheMoose‬ ! Stop by the channel headquarters for more information and inspiration.

I've enjoyed watching you build the Spur Cabin. My wife and I bought our little piece of heaven in northeast Washington a few years ago and will begin building a small cabin this spring from lumber we milled ourselves from trees on the property. It's fun to watch how others build things and I always pick up a few new ideas along the way. Can't wait to see the finished interior 😊

Congratulations on the first year Patrick!! Can't believe it's been that long. Looking forward to another one. One more thing, we used to call it Levi Pine, used it in prefab housing that we sent overseas. It was caused by the Mountain Pine Beetle which would kill the tree and leave behind a blue tint. Cheers

@Life on the Moose, most 2 1/2 finish nailers are 16 gauge. 18 gauge are for light work. 15 gauge nailers are for heavy solid woods like Oak and Walnut. Maybe even some big Crown Molding or 8 inch to 12 inch base molding. 42 years I have been a Carpenter now. Where did the time go? Side note, you should get a 12 inch compound miter saw. 10 inch if you want to go cheap (Miter Saw). Reason you can cut stuff so much faster and so precise. Would speed up your ceiling laptop siding install. You can never have enough toys, I mean tools, LOL

I think Harvey's ceiling looks great...and that 1 knot hole is Perfect...love the progress on the inside, but getting anxious to see finished cabin..lol. My 5 back Grand Dad's built the farmhouse we all grew up in and the most beautiful thing in it was the floors. He used ever piece of extra cut off lumber and started in the center with a square..then built off around that. The wood is all different varieties and colors, but over the years it's become a very rich color and is still beautiful
