Hallaluja. ...I have gone through 2017 and now about to hit 2018. How your children hqve just grown. Little Seth, young Keira has turned into a little lady. The middle 3 boys are ssoooo helpful and I am sure you are also so grateful for the 2 older ones who are quite young adults already. (From Australia 😊)

Im going to have to raise the roof if i get the bus im looking at as im 6'-4" tall, fell like a little head room would be nice. Ive found through lifes adventures that anything man builds can be re-built. Ive been a mechanic all my life, the cancer thing forced me into temporary retirement which i hope does'nt last much longer. We're still planning the 'hit the road' thing, no better time than now.......

I glad you decided to screw the panels instead of welding them. Welding galvanize produces a form of cyanide gas, much bad for you. You got enough criticism, ya don't need me adding to it, lol. Great project you got going on, love it.

@TheBusLifeShow6 жыл бұрын
We do everything we can to prevent a need for a dr. and dentist. Eat healthy and encourage responsible behavior that does not result in broken bones. The times we have needed a doctor or dentist they have usually been kind enough to work with us on the price.

I have a question have you decided to use the metal framing and drywall to cut down on the weight instead of using wood to before which would add a lot of weight can bus and cut down on your gas mileage I think using metal studs would be a better use and drywall to help cut down on the weight but the bus will be carrying what do you think?
@TheBusLifeShow6 жыл бұрын
Drywall is actually very heavy. Much heavier than wood paneling. I will probably use 2x3 and 2x2 wood to frame with.

Saved a lot of cash welding it yourself you went thru a spool of wire lots practice lol ,one ? We use rivets on the race car with washers on the inside or expolding rivets ,I get the screws they work 😁 rivets better 😁 we buy aluminum rivets from race car engineering in Lakeland FL Im not criticizing you Shane aluminum rivets are very easy to redrill out if you need to do that we have had to replace a lot of body panels 😁 they use steel rivets on the bus building its a pain the butt to drill um out lol on new race car trailers the panels are glued at the seam overlap they are smoother and there's no dent in the metal these are just my thoughts you are doing a great job just a little info on what we do 😁
@Superduty_596 жыл бұрын
When I do my roof raise I will probably use rivets too but this particular bus any many others used screws form the factory. He is re-using the factory screws that he took out of the bus and he is re-using them. I think that the bus factory thought they were strong enough so they should be but like you I probably would still rivet them instead. Would you use blind rivets or the kind you have to buck?
@TheBusLifeShow6 жыл бұрын
You got to remember that adding the sheet metal will actually make the structure even stronger than it was before. I used rivets on the Good News Bus but on this one I figured if the screws ever give me trouble I can still rivet.
@Superduty_596 жыл бұрын
Yes, screws would be more than plenty. The bean counters at Thomas said it was more than enough from the factory. You will probably never have any issue with the screws. You also added the panel adhesive which almost takes dynomite to get it apart! lol

Just out of curiosity is there a reason why you chose to screw the sheet metal on instead of riveting it on?
@TheBusLifeShow6 жыл бұрын
Everything for the most part on this bus is screwed from the factory. We just followed suite. I can always go back and rivet if I feel it’s necessary. We also used a very strong panel adhesive. I don’t think we will have any issues with it.

you should of used 16 ga sheet metal i can see dimples and wavy were you riveted, others are using 16 ga
@TheBusLifeShow6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think 16 gauge would have been too thick. The sheet metal is not wavy at all. It is very solid. There are places where the metal has dimpled. Not much could have been done to avoid that. I think after it is all painted it will look great and hide most of that.
@revisionindustries6675 жыл бұрын
Still think 16 would of been to thick?

@TheBusLifeShow6 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure I understand the question. Are you asking if they do all their school work? If so, then yes! Learning is more important than studying. If they can learn and comprehend quickly then they have more time to be kids. 😁
