Installing cabin pollen filter Landcruiser VDJ79R.

I may have given the incorrect model in the video, so apologies for that. The filter used is a Wesfil WACF0194, which has a split in the middle to suit the folding mesh tray. Bend the tray so that it goes around the air tube, and slide it into the filter housing. The tube in front of the filter tray comes apart at the elbow, and that then allows you to remove the tray, which does not have a paper element filter as standard. This is discussed in my video about the location of the filter.

Thanks John. Helped me heaps. The one I just bought seemed to have a cardboard surround. I took off the cardboard but the seal wasn’t good so I stuck it back on with tape. I think next time I’ll try and keep the cardboard on. Just noting that for anyone else doing the same thing.

Yes, mine had a rigid frame around the paper element, with a cutout in the middle for the folding action.

The one i bought was a Wesfil WACF0194 cabin air filter........ If you order it online make sure that it is the cabin/pollen filter as for some reason there is a transmission filter with the same part number. It has a split in the middle so that it can fold.

Not that i am aware of, as the filter as fitted in new vehicles does not include the paper element filter, just the metal mesh tray. If I did not mention the part number in this video there is another one I did on the same subject.

Did you just squeeze the sides of the glove box to remove it ?

I looked that the first video I did about this filter ( Location/removal ) and unfortunately I did not cover the removal of the clove box itself however I seem to recall that it had a damper rod on the side, and when they was unclipped the glovebox just dropped down and pulled away from the pivot points. You may have a different type but I have found (from other vehicles) that squeezing from the middle of the softer plastic at the back part, pulls the sides in and allows it to drop down. It was a friends vehicle and I do not have access to it at the moment.

I did two videos so that everyone could see that it is possible. I seem to recall that I was holding the camera while trying to install the filter in one video, which was not a smart move.
