In this video I install code 5 lead capping to coping stones.
This job was a little tricky and also took longer than expected. But the client was a really nice guy and really did help out where ever possible. Even gave me a tip at the end. And it was nice working close to home too.
Complete step by step guide. I hope you enjoy.

I should have requested one to do the job. I realise that now.

Those houses have been there for a long while now with just the coping stone tops. And many are still like that. What is the necessity for capping them with lead. It was one or the other. You used stone of some sort. Concrete. Slate. Or lead. Why go over the stone. Or is it just a look factor.

The copings are not leaking at this point. But I’ve been to so many jobs recently that are. The client wanted to do this mainly for looks I think. But also to prevent a problem before it starts. Thanks for watching.

Looking great as usual Stuart. That’s unusual, an overcast for England. Not an easy process on that one, but you made it look easy as usual.

Excellent workmanship as usual. Quick question, when you’re welding, how close is the little ball on the flame to the lead. I’m having trouble with the lead spitting back at me. Cheers.

Thank you. You want to keep the little ball just off the lead. Probably a couple of mm or so.

Thank you. Yes his one was very tight. And it also set my back backwards too. I had to have a day off once I finished. I managed to get a last minute appointment with the osteopath. Thanks for watching.

@@slbleadworks I have been sent to Coventry on a large job in the past ie: I refused to work on 4 twenty five feet columns as the scaffold was not good or hardly any I was age about 22 at the time and working on the books (not self employed). I left the job they knew i was right but there you go. Over the years have heard so many horror stories of people losing an eye or more because companies flout Health Safety. You know yourself you have only one body look after it no one else will. you are very skilled i am sure small companies want the work done they will pay for a scaffold. sorry to hear about your back. You do Amazing lead work as always.
