Machining a knuckle for a Chevrolet K10 Dana 44 front axle in order to install an Offroad Design Crossover Steering kit at DC Customs in Ukiah, California, using a JET Mill, Moog ball joints.

As a guy that just had to take a steering arm off and deal with those conical washers I think I speak for all of us when I say screw you for not putting anti seize on any of that stuff. 😂

On a side note, I'm about to remove the studs from my steering knuckle. Do you happen to know if they are difficult to get out? I sprayed them down with Kroil and am waiting for it to work its magic.

did this a very long time ago and kicked my self in the but cause i should just spent the money right away in a dana 60. I was running 40's on a dana 44 and it worked it just was fun fixing it often. Very nice work btw buddy..... Hope this works out for ya and ya stay away from going pass 37's =0)

Thanks for the video! Very nice. Just a suggestion, a spring loaded tap guide is really cheap. Before I got one I would just insert a small tap with a pointed end in the collet, and hold down pressure on taps while I was turning them. Pretty much anything with a pointed end that will fit in a collet will work to keep the tap straight.

better yet, after drilling the hole , dont move the mill , swap the drill for the tap and power tap it!

How much did you take off the top of the knuckle and what degree did you set the knuckle? Only reason im asking is i can either do the same to mine or spend the 350$ for the reid racing. So id rather the cheaper option

Good stuff brother, didn’t know what a kingpin was either, but had read about them in forums. I’ve got an ‘84 K10 with 10 bolt front and back. I’ll be daily driving/pulling a trailer on occasion and go in the woods maybe 3-4 times a year. Might consider a 14 bolt rear but my question is on the front. Is crossover steering suffice for me, because I’m at least doing that, or is adding high steer worth it or even a good idea? Thanks

Sounds good. Advantage of high steering is clearance from obstacles like rocks and stumps and strength of the components

I'm trying to figure out, why and how does one install crossover steering on a C10? C10s are two wheel drive. K10s are four wheel drive and use either a Dana44 or GM 10 bolt. So, how does this kit work on a C10?

You dont do it on a c10. It was either a mistake or c10 was put in the title for the views.

I believe we used a 17" wheel. I will see if I can find what we used and get back to you...

The wheels were customer supplied 15” X 10” with a 2” backspace

Use the correct arm and its won't be an issue. Some angle in to the center of the vehicle more than others, like ones for h1 rims
