This is perfect. I had to extend my cables for a mid-engine turbo LS in a Murcielago which I’m using a Porsche transmission and I needed about 6” additional. Trying to extend the factory connections that are plastic wasn’t a good choice. The metal ends ensures nice solid connections that won’t break.

Thanks for the inside view. I will be doing the Function-First shift kit today and the cables later on maybe next month. good job!

Appears to be a very functional modification with the short shift assembly. It does give one a method of setting the adjustments at the cable level and with very good attachment assemblies. It appears you can set your shift arm by the changed shift assy mountings to a position desired within reason (moving assembly fwd/revers); then setting the cable adjustments to match the fixed position set by the green yoke assembly. I have used the bushings from a short shift assembly and matched them to the original shifter assembly which gives me an adjustment method of providing original cable ends to match with the original assembly connectors. Like your method better since it is direct adjustment to the cables and you can still change the shifter lever.

Great vid! I know I'm a bit late on this, but who manufactures the blue metal shifter that's installed w/in your stock 996 box? B&M? How do you like it?

Hi Martin, great video -I’ve done the short shift upgrades to my 996 c4s suggested in your other videos plus function first cable ends. This has much improved shifting. I think this cable upgrade would be fantastic but is beyond me -are you interested in taking on the job ? Regards Andy

Interesting mod, what is the advantage of the cup cables?

They have metal fittings on the ends which give less slop for a better feel on the gear changes. I haven't actually used them yet though.....

Hi Andy, sorry but generally I only work on my own cars. It is just a hobby and I'm struggling to get time to get my own jobs done at the moment.

Hi Martin, yet again, great video. Sadly I realised what my problem has been with my cup cables. I have no plate! Sadly the part is no where to be found in Germany or UK. Tried my contact at Porsche Reading. Don't suppose you still have the one you didn't install and were willing to sell it to me? I'll modify it of course if you do sell it. Let me know. Cheers Alex

There may be more to this. This is a motorsport part and these don't usually show up on the stock system, so the fact that no stock is showing doesn't mean much. It was something like £11+VAT but no guarantee of stock. I'll look for my bracket and if I can find it I'll sell that.

That is a lot of what playing with cars is, but I enjoy it.
