Spring definitely feels close and with the 85˚ temperature difference from the last time we were out working on the treehouse and we loved every minute of being outside. This week we were able to pick up the decking and get most of it installed. I for one, feel SO much better about being up on the platform now that it's decked. No more moments of complete, full body paralyzation when trying to maneuver around up there!
We also harvested some chaga on today's episode. The last time we harvested this conk was 6 years ago and since then it's grown into a 5 lb pound golden beauty. Chaga tea is so delicious and a great way to get a boost of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants!

In two years we will just have to reseal it if we don’t like the faded color. They do have a color match stain that will bring it back to this exact color. Worst is when I went to MODS pizza and order a pizza and had them put some cherry tomatoes on it. I waited for the pizza to cool down after coming out of a brick oven. I guess we are not sure what happens if you don’t harvest it! I think it would just continue to grow… the Chaga relies on the Birch tree, so I doubt it would kill it. The Chaga and birch tree have a very weird relationship. I guess you could call it like a parasitic symbiotic relationship, but they are in constant battle with each other…. The chunk we harvested will continue to grow back. Eventually it will be back to the same size as it was! Thanks for following along Laura! I was just about to ask what that burnt looking thing was on the tree then you explained it was Chaga. Never heard of chaga before but learned something new. Also if you were to tap maple tree for maple syrup, I would still watch it. Yes, of course! Harvest time doesn’t affect the Chaga itself, however, harvesting when temps are cold AND leaving 20-30% of the Chaga intact is more for the health of the tree, and to ensure that the Chaga grows back. The last time we cut it was in 2018 and it’s grown back this much! Were so glad you enjoyed watching the video! Have a great rest of your week and weekend!

Yes, who would’ve thought? Pontoon trailer as a wood hauling hootis. Ha ha I know. Teddy and I went back-and-forth for a very long time on whether or not to take paid sponsorships. But for how much time and effort we put into each video we ultimately decided the only way we could keep this channel going was to do it. KZbin alone wasn’t cutting it. Yes, the pileated woodpeckers are really big! I bet you had some good views and beautiful scenery chasing that one around by split rock. The North Shore is one of my favorite places to be. There is actually a top and bottom of those deck boards… One side has bigger knots, that hold water and we put that side down, not sure I guess, which way the growth rings were facing. That’s so true. Summer does feel like it’s already coming and gone. Yes it’s been below zero and we’re supposed to be getting 6 to 18 inches of snow this weekend, too! We’ll see what happens though. I hope you’re right about 45 and sunny! That would be amazing for car, washing and farmers tanning! Once again, beautiful, scripture, verses! I like that the decking came pressure treated and stained. You won’t find that at Lowes or Home Depot. I love Menards I wish we had them here in SC. Also I was just telling my wife we need to get one of those Ankers so we can easily work on all our fencing. Great video as always.

This is why l miss Michigan, the weather stick around 5 minutes and it changes. Glad you have some warmer weather to work on the decking. No matter where you buy lumber from lately it’s crooked. Menards is not common in Arizona just HD and Lowe’s. When back in Michigan it’s Menards. The decking is turning out great. Glad all is well with you guys , life with kids,sports and work always take precedence no matter what it’s called life and family. You guys are making some great progress! It's always a challenge to find straight boards regardless of where they come from. Ted, that piece of chaga looked like a good candidate for the multi-tool 🤣Sounds like chaga might be a lot healthier than maple syrup! We'll have to take another look at some of the birch trees on our property to see if we can track some down. Jenna, Jayme has the same fear of walking across the platform with spacing between the deck boards, if she can see the ground she's crawling across the platform! 🤣😂 Hope you guys have a great rest of the week and enjoy the warm weather while it lasts!

Haha that’s what we’ve been hearing about the boards! Crooked everywhere! 😅 lol, everything is a good candidate for the multitool! And yes, while we LOVE maple syrup and consider it a great whole food and natural sweetener, Chaga is definitely one that has really great medicinal properties! Definitely take a look for it on your birch! We don’t have it on all of our birch trees, but we do have it on a lot of them! None as big as this one, though. Ugh, yes. I could easily walk on those beams when they were staged for milling but once they were up in the air- something in my brain was like “NOPE!” Maybe it’s trying to compensate for Teds fearlessness! 😂 It seems like your platform was a lot higher than ours, too! I can completely understand Jayme’s need to crawl! Have a great weekend as well! We’re back to cold temps and possible snow storm on the way! Yeesh! Take care!

Yes! My (Ted) uncle did tap some birch trees last year! I think he did say that it took a lot more sap to boil down to get syrup. I think he also said it wasn’t as sweet as maple syrup! But still good! Maybe we’ll have to try it next year! We hope you have a great weekend!❤️😊🌲

A loyal cone and sometimes nuts, dropping in to see what your doin' today. Good morning Jenna and Ted. It was so nice seeing one of my favorite couples and Jenna, your beautiful, sparkling eyes in the sunlight. The deck is turning out absolutely gorgeous. It was nice seeing Finley and CJ involved as well. I got a kick out of Teds comment "a lefty and a righty" as Finley was attaching the deck boards. I'm left handed and back when I was a kid, there were few lefties and actually, in school they tried very hard to change you. So, I had to learn to do everything right handed and then switch over and as a result, I'm pretty much ambidextrous. I don't write right handed but that's more for a lack of practicing than anything. When it comes to tools etc, I'm good with either hand. It used to drive my dad crazy when we where putting down baseboard or floor trim and I'd just switch hands and he'd be turned around on his head nailing it down when into a corner. So when Ted said that it instantly took me back to working with my dad. We have also been having unusual early spring weather here in Central Ca. Yesterday and today are actually going to be in the mid 70's, very unusual. It was great that Anker spotted you that Solix F3800. I purchased a smaller size power station for occassional use around here and they sure do come in handy. You guys have done a nice job on this project, it's coming together nicely and looks great. I'm anxious to see it completed to see what you actually have envisioned. It is located in a beautiful spot on your property. Have a great week ahead my friends and be safe. CJ and Finley are always a big help when they choose to be! 😂 Yes, we thought it was funny how Finley would switch hands and she was so naturally doing it. That’s really cool to hear about you and your dad working together and you being ambidextrous. My sister was a lefty too… And they did switch her to a righty in elementary school… That was so crazy to me. Mid 70s sounds blissful! It’s getting cold again here and we’re supposed to be getting a big snowstorm this weekend. Yes, we are very thankful to anchor for sending us that power station.
