Hi Chandler, For the individual red and black wires, 1/16" diameter is a good size. A 1/4" diameter heat shrink can be used over both. I use an assortment pack of heat shrink tubes I bought years ago from Radio Shack with 1/16", 1/8" and 1/4" shrink tubes.

Hi Steven, Yes, the GoPro records the captured video to its micro SD card and at the same time transmits the video to the fatshark goggles. I haven't noticed any lag or reduction in quality. I set the GoPro to its 1440 resolution mode because it is in the 4:3 display ratio and displays better in the fatshark goggles than in the 16:9 1080 resolution.

Hi Gary. Very nice youtube on the fatshark and dji phantom. My question is,dies the fstshark system interfere with the dji,s radio control system. Im going with your setup when i get my stuff together. Thnx again Brian.
@ghonis10 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, The Fatshark Predator Goggles use a 5.8 GHz transmitter. The Phantom 1 uses a 2.4GHz Transmitter, so there is no interference. The Wi-Fi used on GoPro HERO cameras, also operates on 2.4GHz and may interfere with the transmitter, so most keep the GoPro's Wi-Fi turned off when operating the Phantom.
@sdw48er10 жыл бұрын
Is your Phantom an FC40? That's what i have, and my remote transmits on 5.8. So i can't use that frequency for video. It so, what video frequency are you transmitting on? And can you supply a link to the kit you bought? So i can get the same setup. Thanks Gary

Hi and thanks for this. Is it possible to fly with the 600TVL that comes with the FatShark as well as the GoPro using the 600TVL as the FatShark viewer to sort of fram the shot and then positioning the Phantom so the GoPro can take the photo? I'm thinking about just setting the GoPro to record and then fly... I'm also wondering if this particular setup would be capable on the Phantom 2 (as well as Vision without GoPro) with GoPro and just adding separate battery for the FatShark transmitter? Thanks.

@ghonis11 жыл бұрын
I know it doesn't power the GoPro. You still need to have the GoPro battery installed. I doubt if it charges the GoPro battery. The GoPro Hero 3 battery has a pretty long battery life at around 1 hour 40 minutes and the Hero 3+ lasts over two hours.
@TheCessna15310 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary good video! My question is about the IOSD Mini,how do you use that with the go pro footage because the cable goes straight from the transmitter to the GoPro3,so the IOSD would have no involvment. Thanks
@ghonis10 жыл бұрын
I have never installed the iOSD mini. My understanding is that the IOSD mini requires can-bus. On a Phantom 1 to get can-bus, you either have to install pmu-v2, or you install the phantom upgrade board. I'm waiting for a concise installation guide before adding OSD and there is not much room inside the Phantom 1.

The Fatshark Predator Goggles use a 5.8 GHz transmitter. My Phantom 1 uses a 2.4GHz Transmitter, so there is no interference. The Wi-Fi used on GoPro HERO cameras, also operates on 2.4GHz and may interfere with the transmitter, so most keep the GoPro's Wi-Fi turned off when operating the Phantom.

@ghonis11 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, No problems without using a power filter on the Phantom 1 so far. I've read that some installing power filters eventually removed them. I would think since DJI has designed the circuit board to provide the auxilliary power lead, that they have taken any filtering needed into account. If you had interference lines in your video, banding or dropouts, that may be the time to try a power filter. I have no experience with your Phantom 2 which uses a different battery, so keep that in mind.

I found an australian youtube video with the Phantom 2 attached to the Zen Muse gimbal and a GoPro Hero3+. Sorry to hear about your missing auxiliary power cable. You can look at the slides in the video at 11:29 and 11:41 to be sure where it is connected. does the gopro run on 2.4 or 5.8, what is the control frequency of the phantom, 5.8?
@ghonis10 жыл бұрын
Both the Phantom 1 and Phantom 2 use 2.4 GHz for the transmitter frequency. The Phantom 2 Vision uses 5.8 GHz for the transmitter frequency. The Fatshark Predator Goggles come with a 5.8 GHz transmitter so there is no interference with the 2.4GHz frequency of the Phantom 1 transmitter. The WiFi used on the GoPro Hero cameras operates on 2.4 Ghz, so I keep the GoPro WiFi turned off when I use the Phantom 1.

@stevewainwright334410 жыл бұрын
Unfortunatly, all the new phantoms have been switch to 5.8 on the transmitter So i would have to go with 2.4 i guess. Which limits what products you can use. Since most are running 5.8 on fpv It forces us new Phantom owners to go with a stationary sys. (meaning that i have to have a wire running to the goggles from a seperate reciever) Since all of Fatsharks wireless goggles run on 5.8.

Hi Byron, The GoPro Hero budget model may work. I have no way to test since I don't own that model. The GoPro Hero budget model can not be removed from its protective case like the other GoPro models, so you would have to figure out a way to mount it on the quadcopter. The case has a back door that you would need to keep open for the USB cable connection, or maybe instead cut a hole through it.

Yes, you don't have to take everything off although using the velcro makes that easy to do. The Quad would be a little lighter that way. If you are not flying FPV, you could just leave everything connected.

Hi Anthony, the Predator model is working well. When I bought it, I was interested in the DominatorHD because of its higher resolution, but I notice on the Fatshark website that it is still not available with an expected availability date of April 2014. If you are considering a Fatshark model, you may want to check future DominatorHD user reports before spending the extra money.
@Micp291211 жыл бұрын
Yea I'm trying to plan everything for my phantom Fpv before I buy anything. I was also looking at the dominatorhd. Is the resolution on yours good enough or would you spend the money for a hd? Right now I'm flying it stock w/ a 2mp cam but am excited about the upgrades. Im researching your setup with the addition of dragon link. Also trying to get views on the gopro black, if it's worth spending the money or just get the silver. Thank you for sharing, also what state do u you live in?
@ghonis11 жыл бұрын
I am satisfied with the Predator goggles and don't have plans to upgrade to the DominatorHD model.....yet, anyway. If they were available at the time, I may have gone with the DominatorHD. The video graphics on my computer display are phenomenal with the higher resolutions of the black GoPro. The higher 1440P to 4K video resolutions are not avialable on the silver edition. TVs with the 4K resolution are now beginning to be sold. Going with the black edition would future proof your purchase if video resolution is important to you. I'm in PA.
