I feel like they can make these so much better than they are, but they're not. They purposely do this so they leave stuff to "improve" on to keep selling more every year

It's not that easy as you might think. Things that come out nowadays were designed a year or two ago. Designing and engineering stuf consumes a lot of time. It's not just "putting new motors and camera's on it".

Erik Huisman Before you get this I recommend something like the blade nano qx. This will help you get used to the controls. My neighbour has one that I recommended and eventually he was flying quads of this size. Always get a smaller to learn on and the one I recommended is not meant for outdoors but has prop guards to stop crashes indoors.
@Bluelight23.0110 жыл бұрын
Harry Krek So if i know how to fly the blade nano qx, i can also fly the DJI Phantom 2 vision plus?

What's really needed is a very small device that transmits a homing signal, not just for the copter but also for the camera to stay aimed at. That way if you are filming someone, they simply turn the device on, put it in their pocket, and as they go about filming the scene the drone will always know which way to keep the drone turned and where to aim the gimbaled camera for a smooth transition as the drone either hovers nearby or flys by or around the moving or stationary subject.

I bought the original Phantom when it was released and put my own gimbal on it. Boy did the flight time drop drastically. Ended up buying a DJI F450 kit and building it. Now get about 12 minutes flight time. Love to know how the Phantom 2 gets 20 minutes on the same size battery I have.
@spencurai10 жыл бұрын
I think it's all in optimization of hardware. My phantom 2 without a gimbal would get around 25 minutes of flight time but I'm down to 15 with the gimbal/gopro/fpv transmitter. If you notice, their camera is TINY compared to the gopro so they've obviously done some fat trimming.
@theonepoet10 жыл бұрын

Nice to have a tweaked camera from the factory. I had Three (3) P2V's and returned them because the camera's colors were always out, grainy images and dead pixels in low light. I ordered the New P2 with H3-3D and GoPro 3+ and all the bells and whistles, and it really wasn't that much more and I got a camera(s) that doesn't have to stay strapped on the Phantom all the time and it flies circles around the FC200
@jmpage210 жыл бұрын
I have an older 1st generation Phatom and probably won't be able to resist upgrading to this guy. I think a lot of people who are ragging on the video quality and insist that the Phantom 2 with Hero 3 is a better option don't understand that if you buy the Phantom 2 with the H3-3D Zenmuse mount ($969) you still won't have the real time video view and flight telemetry data going to your iphone/ipad. You will have to spend another $500-$700 on extra gear to get the same functionality... and it will weigh more so you will get less flight time.
@abekurek859710 жыл бұрын
Hi, I just ordered the phantom 2 Vision + and I'm interested in increasing the range. Definitely going to have to look into getting one of these. Haven't flown RC since building bulsa/fabric as a kid but this certainly looks like temptation enough to get back into it. The software looks like it makes this easy to fly but since it is so expensive to crash I would also ask experienced folks what the best way is to get up to speed flying these. Fortunately, I have a friend who has 3 quadcopters so I think it is time to go to that resource. Amazing tech. I wonder what one costs on the streets of HK.

I would like to get one to use from a boat the problem being that on the water there are few points of reference to judge exact location so it can be difficult to fly back and land exactly on the boat. Will the quad allow you to take over controls after pressing the auto home button and then disable to safe zone feature so I can land on on the boat (obviously water will not be good for the device if I miss the mark)?

15:00 7 or 8 satellite connections, inside? I wish my GPS devices could do that. Have I missed out on some new GPS tech that let's this happen? @JSLR10 жыл бұрын

@BayuFauzi10 жыл бұрын
yep, I have one of this in my office. The gimbal anticipate a minor movements or when your phantom move so you can have a steadier movement. Just like your hand doing when you're recording while walking. But it'll still have that shaky images causes by external factor like wind or when you don't have a steady hands, or when it is your first time flying this thing. So, yeah it still need a post processing to make the video as steady as possible.
@JSLR10 жыл бұрын
Bayu Fauzi but note this is a professional flyer with perfect conditions
@BayuFauzi10 жыл бұрын
***** even the professional pilot can't make the phantom floats steadily. Take a look at 07:54 that guy pushed the phantom, that's when the gimbal do its thing. But take a look at 08:01 the phantom is wiggling and moving up and down, that's when you need a post processing to minimalize those movement. I have experiences using glidecams, it doesn't matter how smooth your movement is, you'll need the image stabilization processing on after effect, unless you want to achieve the found footage dramatic effect. :)
@harrier33110 жыл бұрын
the pilot is in the comment section above, he said that he did those on purpose to show how good the gimbal is it is good for small slow motions but not for sharp movements like the pilot was intentionally doing.

the fisheye? thats caused by the lens itself. you cant remove it on the camera or in the app. you will have to do it in software later on. like photoshop. but flattening it will make it blurry anywhere else other than the center. you should have bought the phantom 2 in stead. because its possible to buy new lenses to a gopro camera to remove the fisheye.

The Proto x nano is only $40 and taught me a lot about flying quads before stepping up to something bigger. You don't need to spend $100 to get a small indoor quad to get a feel for it.

but the Controls in this thing dont really compair to another brand quad.. as i have understood it atleast.. throttle isnt from bottom to top.. its up and Down from center position With the stick.. right and left on the left stick is turn clockwise/couterclockwise.. and the right stick moves the quad the way you move the stick... (up=away from you, Down=towards you, right=move quad right, and left=move quad left) but that might "just" be the noob setting on it.. i hope i am wrong.. think it would be hard to change brand of quad after getting used to flying a DJI quad

Correct most of the quads I have flown are from the bottom up. This high end quad they're covering and some with altitude hold and GPS have a centered throttle control but I don't believe that to be the norm more so than straight up throttle control such as the Proto-X. As far as yaw on left stick and bank on right stick those are exactly the same in both. It would take me a little bit to get used to this over bottom up but I don't think it would be too tough to switch up once you've gotten used to both. I could be wrong though.
