This video was exactly what I needed. You explained everything clearly and the examples provided helped a ton. Going to attempt this myself in coming months!

This is probably one of the best things I've spent my money on recently. I can't believe what a difference it makes. My box window air conditioning unit is enough to keep cool during the hot summers, and my woodstove will run you out of there on the coldest of nights. I should've done this years ago.

Happy Thanksgiving, Phil! I built one building when we were building a house that was about maybe 12' by 12'. for a stove and refrigerator and a spot to go in bad weather. We were in what was left of a 22 foot Prowler camper and a 10 by 20 tarp over a picnic table. Laid the foam board on top of the so-called trusses and it flapped when the door was moved. That's why I was a driver/operator. Yall have a fine time and God Bless Yall and Thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too! I am loving this insulated roof. In fact, it's 28° out right now and it's 80° in here. My sweetie and I are spending a lot more time out here in the shop. We will actually be watching Chiefs football today next to the woodstove out here. It's a good way to spend our 29th wedding anniversary today. Hope you've had a great Thanksgiving and a happy Lords day!

Happy Anniversary, Palley! We're going on 20 shortly. You'll get addicted to the wood heater. We put on a metal roof and were amazed how much difference it made with the heating and cooling. We'll just build a fire when it gets below zero which won't happen much. Had a fine Thanksgiving with just us and the Grans and parents. Gets a lot like a looney asylum. Yall have Jesus days all along. God Bless Yall, Phil!@@PhilCrockett

how does airflow go from your soffit to the ridge vent if you have the foamboard flush against the purlins? I guees if it were me (will be soon as I need to do what you did on my garage) I would leave a gap on the topside of the foamboard between the roof so the air could flow freely from the soffits all the way up to the ridge vent....

I did not seal the cracks with tape. I’m hoping this is enough. Ask me in 10 years how it worked out.

Did you install a ridge cap vent on the roof? I couldn’t tell if it was done or not.

Can you tell me the purpose of that center furring strip and what you're screwing it into? Also, would you suggest a bit of a gap between each foam board so you potentially trap less moisture? Thanks!

The middle furring makes sure the panel doesn’t sag over the years. I have a vapor barrier under the metal to take care of moisture. The gaps could be helpful tho

Hey Phil, thanks for the video. Is there a way to cover up the foam board apart from installing drywall osb etc? Thank you
@PhilCrockettАй бұрын
I truly don't know. I've never had to worry about that. You might want to look into paint products.

@PhilCrockett thanks for the kind response, i ended up painting it with a water based painting prdt from sherwin williams. Bless you

What’s the temp difference?

It's extremely significant. I'm wishing I would have done this years ago. I can keep it in the low 70's when it's in the 90's outside. it was 68F yesterday in the shop and 86F outside.
