Man I can’t this to work ! I turned off all the firewall setting and everything that has to be turned off. Have a stable connection through WiFi, Ethernet cable is the correct one but I can’t start the process after identifying the vehicle

Touchscreen is not available on my idrive, but apps like Google maps may be available it coincides with CarPlay availability, I’m not sure. Waze works for me just fine

Why didn't your laptop connect? I tried to do it with an HP Spectre laptop but it wouldn't connect so I went and bought a cheap windows laptop to use and it worked..

My laptop did connect, but I was using windows on Mac via bootcamp, it didn’t connect for some reason the first time but worked when I tried again. & nice ! Glad you got it figured out for cheap lol

I believe that is for a different NBT iDrive. It says on Easy Bimmer’s website what exactly NBT can use the USB or not

I used my iPhone as a hotspot and connected my MacBook with bootcamp windows 10 to my iPhone’s wifi hotspot. Hope this helps!

Only thing I can think of is try resetting the idrive maybe? Press and hold the volume button in for 20/30 seconds let it reset and hopefully it’ll be there 🙏

Sadly the customer service is very bad if you have an issue when activating the apple carplay after going step by step and uploading the images to him for proof it would not work I received an angry very unprofessional email.
