Helped out tremendously. But do you think 3m and a bracket attached underneath the hood would keep it secure. Or are the rivets the best choice. ?
@HazardSports
@HazardSports 9 жыл бұрын
I think that rivets are definitely more secure but for your purposes the 3M & bracket may be enough. For the harsh terrain and vibration that this car was built for would shake it loose without rivets!

So what's happens when it rains?? Will water sip though causing engine parts to rust over time?? Nice job. But just asking.
@HazardSports
@HazardSports 6 жыл бұрын
Not sure! This car is race only now and as you see a lot worse happens to it than rain 🤣. I assume it will take on water but haven’t had it in a storm yet!

HazardSports ok, reason I ask is that I'm thinking of placing the hellcat bezels I'm just worried about rain sipping in to the engine are. Any suggestions?? Thanks
@HazardSports
@HazardSports 6 жыл бұрын
I would look and see how they are designed to work on the Hellcat! See if they make any provisions on the Inside of the hood to catch and drain water then if so try to fabricate something similar. I don’t know! I know my friends Mach1 with the induction hood scoop had weather stripping and a drain tube to deal with rain! But not sure about heat extractors or air inlets. I just know that I didn’t use one. Let me know what you find out so we can share with others in this chat! Thank you!

nice video, but does the hood continue to have its rigidity or gets wooble? cheers
@HazardSports
@HazardSports 6 жыл бұрын
To me the hood is plenty rigid! And I throw this car around (check the beginning of our POR-15 tutorial to see a video clip of this things racing off-road). I don’t notice any wobble from that video or any of our onboard videos from road racing and rally. The plastic secured by The rivets aids in rigidity (moderately) which is enough for our purposes. For functionality- I have no regrets! Let me know what you end up doing! -Paul

How much would this cost for shop to install
@HazardSports
@HazardSports 3 ай бұрын
Hard to tell! Parts + Labor but each shop has a different hourly labor charge. I DIY’d it and it cane out perfect. But if you’re not proficient in working with tools and such it may be better to pay a good custom shop as opposed to having to replace the hood if you make a big mistake. Let me know what you do and how much a shop quoted on the price in case others ask.

think you can add this to a stock 2011 GT hood?
@HazardSports
@HazardSports 8 жыл бұрын
I just Google searched a 2011 hood to see the lines. I think it would be best to measure out the spot you want to install it to make sure you have the room. The hood shouldn't have any hard contours in the area you're going to install the vent but a subtle contour is fine as the plastic will flex. You'll also want to make sure it can be positioned far enough back that it will have a positive effect on heat dissipation.

+HazardSports Thanks a lot for the quick response. I was thinking the exact same thing.. It'll take a lotof measurements and test fits to see. Appreciate it! I'll subscribe for more.

No problem, glad that I could help! Feel free to reach out to me for any questions! I wish I had someone to ask when I was doing this project but it's not a typical install. I just went slow and took my time! Thanks for the sub too, we appreciate it. Once we start prepping the car for the next race we will be putting more stuff up. Next project will be dual master brake cylinders to have rear and front on separate lines, hydraulic hand brake, and routing all the brake lines, (stainless / braided) through the passenger compartment for protection from the gravel and rocks we will torture this car with.

I was wondering how you made out? I just measured the hood vent for a friend of mine and thought you might like the info. It is roughly 32.5" wide and 7.5" High.

What happens when it rains???
@HazardSports
@HazardSports 3 жыл бұрын
This is a race car so It’s garaged when not racing. I haven’t had it out in the rain. Not sure if the GT500 hood has water drainage but the vent itself does not. I am sure when the car is at a standstill the most rain water would come in. How much I wouldn’t know. If you find anything out keep me up to date please. What year car are you working on? Is it a Mustang also?
