I was installing a set of these arms and noticed I had limited camber adjustment. I figured out that I had the upper a arms on the wrong sides. There was such little thread left on the upper ball joint that it was also difficult to adjust the slicast. I believe the correct orientation is where the upper a arm will have the grease zerks on the top side towards the front. I have not seen the directions from houser on this but I figured it out by looking at their website pictures...

I have the opposite problem with mine, in trying to get negative camber I have it screwed in all the way just to get to -2. Which is fine as that is what I want.
@mday5133 жыл бұрын
Meaning it is screwed so far in that you can’t go more negative camber like -3? When I had the upper a arms where the grease zerk was on the bottom (like yours in this video) I could not go any more negative than -2 and at that point the slicast required loosening both nuts which I didn’t like. When I swapped the upper a arms such that the grease zerk was on top, I had more adjustability of castor and camber.. the top ball joint ends up coming at a steeper angle but it seems to be in more of a sweet spot for adjustability.

First it'll be better if you wash or clean the quad so you can see better were to hit and remove all the mud in the screws.. it'll be a easy and clean job.

It’s been a yr...give me your honest thoughts on the +.5. Do you love them? Maybe wish you went wider? Asking all this because I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on some.
@Team2Gils4 жыл бұрын
I would not really go wider,but if I was starting over, I would go +2.5 and get 4x1 offset wheels to bring the width back. With a +1-4 lsr axle, you could easily bolt stock wheels on and change your rear spacing and have a 50 wide for just general goofing around. The big improvement on the arns are the ability to adjust castor. I run negative castor and it really helps in turns.

Team 2 Gils Appreciate the advice Rick. Be patient with me because I’m for sure I’ll be asking some additional questions

Hi, Great video! Also the suspension setup video, both very useful. How do you take off the ball joints? My new A-arms are coming so I need to learn as much as I can about the process because it will be my first time doing it. That orange hamer its plastic? rubber? By the way, Why you dont go for ar wider A-arms and only for 0.5 inches? and why you decided to go to elka suspension? After you ride it some time, can you share your opinion compared to your rebuilded shocks? I think it will be very useful. Thank you and enjoy your upgrades!

Orange hammer is a "dead blow" which is plastic filled with sand I believe. I got all but two joints off with that. One ball joint I had to use some heat, and one a puller. Sometimes they come apart real easy, sometimes not. I went with the half inch ones as I race through the woods and need to stay fairly narrow. I chose elka as they are top of the line AND fairly quick to get. I got them in about 10 days where others were 4-6 weeks. I was down for the count and missed one race as it was so getting something fast was important. I have a quick video on the elka I am uploading. I got a chance to practice a little today and they were nice, tomorrow is race day so that will be the real test. My handlebars are bent so that should be fun.

Another great company i run housers on my yfz450r great stuff good video man! You were in my recommended videos today if you wonder why I’m checkn ya out! If you take a look at a recent video i did same deal breaking down an a arm i have this handy tool i got from a guy on facebook which makes removing the spindles a breeze! Did you have any frame damage from the damaged a arm?
@Team2Gils5 жыл бұрын
No damage at all thankfully. No serious damage to me either! Most everything came apart easy, had to use a little heat one ball joint, then had one that was stuck hard and went to HF and bought a small ball joint tool that worked really easy

Hi, thank you for the video. Do the stock shock setting work well with the new a arms?
@Team2Gils5 жыл бұрын
These are long travel A-Arms so I had to buy new shocks. If you buy standard travel the stock setting would like work the same. May need to tweak them some just to dial in better.

@@Team2Gils Oh ok sorry I was thinking this was the regular travel I didn't read your description. Thank you for your answer anyway.
