Ooooo ! Those wheels look fabulous, they instantly make your bike look brand new too. But really, the best is watching Thuomg’s charming reaction to it all. Hope you can get another set soon so that you no longer have to share and compete !

They look and sound great! When I converted my old Trek 4300 to disc brakes it was pretty satisfying to hear the new free hub. So funny, I was looking at wheelsets last night. I'll probably be upgrading next year but I'm always looking. Carbon is out of my budget. I'm just needing some 29er to go on my gravel bike and upgrade to a free hub so I can go 11 or 12 gears.
@devdroid9606 Жыл бұрын
I have two wheelsets with the same weight difference shown here. One set has ceramic bearings. On a climb they do make a noticeable difference, especially if incline is >7%. Like having one more cog in the back. I also use Conti GP5000 on the lightweight pair and use of latex tubes. The latter requires re-inflation every 3 days.

They've been great in the climbs so far 😁

Finally a maintenance video. Nice wheels, personally I prefer a freewheel with very quiet noise, but they are preferences. Thuong's bike also needs a pair of carbon wheels ;)
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
I used to prefer quieter ones, but these louder ones are great natural "bells" when going through busy areas

GP5ks are fantastic. Been running them on my day-to-day bike since they launched a few years ago and mine do get cut up by Chicago's glass minefields but only get a puncture or two a year, so for me definitely worth the smooth fast ride. They're confident riding in the wet and snow too! Their only downside is that they don't last anywhere near as long as Marathons or Gatorskins, but now that they're basically half of their launch price, in the US at least, its not too bad

I have the Elite Wheels 60 mm set Rim brake ( hooked for normal tubes) version been on them for 2 years ( no crazy descents, almost all flat land here) and the Wheels are basically brand new after being used for so long. So if you don't live on mountains and live in flat areas the Rim brake Elite Wheels are fine no issues with them.

You will love the Elite-Wheels DRIVE which looks really beautiful with the glossy, marbled finish in a customed 45D road version. Not only did the wheelset lightened my bike by over 300 grams, they are stiff, responsive and helped with the aero performance. Paired with Continental GP5000 is the best setup you can get. I am sure you will love them as you ride more with them.

Aw... Thuong deserves to get a set for herself too. She really needs a power meter and a carbon wheelset, maybe Elitewheels could send her one also. I really believe they are affordable. I always look forward to your rides wherever you are and it has been great seeing Thuong really taking on cycling challenges. Right now I have 3 road bikes, all with power meters, but only one with a carbon wheelset, also from Elitewheels. My power meters are the dual sided Magene P325CS with multiple chain ring combos and I am very happy with them.

Yes, Thuong definitely deserves some upgrades especially with how much more serious she's been with her riding lately.

Nice wheelset. I am still old school with alloy rims/brakes which are good for current level of riding and no longer race. I also prefer the quieter Ultegra cassette hub on current wheel.
@joaopaulosbragia3947 Жыл бұрын
I’m considering purchase this wheelset. However, I notice they have 28mm outer width. Are you using 700x25cc with this new wheelset? Can you notice the rim wider than the tire?

How is the hot weather in Vietnam now affecting your bike rides
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
It's a lot more tiring during hard efforts and rough to go out in the sun now 😑 The humidity is the worst part
@surlyogre1476 Жыл бұрын
4:54 the noise that startled Thuong was just the tire bead seating itself on the rim. No worries, but you probably knew that.

Yeah, they still surprise her 😅
@Wasabi_Master Жыл бұрын
Why are the new wheels so loud? Is there a practical reason for that?
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
Some hubs are built to be louder. One useful point is they are kind of like a bell and can alert people nearby that a bike is passing.
@cycledelic44 Жыл бұрын
Some might say that there are marginal gains to be had with rim brakes (less spokes so more aero) and also no suprise rotor rub half way up a climb ?
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
If climbing performance was my main goal I definitely would prefer a rim brake lightweight frame. But for overall enjoyment, disc has been very nice
@endtimeslips4660 Жыл бұрын
very nice wheelset brand. i always do my ritual when installing new tire on the new rim i always brush my tire rims with a soap water and rub my inner tube with baby powder.

Why didn't you guys go for deeper depth carbon wheels? At least you get to experience the differences a deeper depth can give you for your future rides?
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
I love deeper carbon wheels and used them back when I was racing. We do a mix of riding here with more climbing, so decided to go with a more all round approach
@Twodaae Жыл бұрын
@@TwoWheelCruise That's great! Perhaps the sponsors (if they are watching) could send out a set of 50mm for Thuong to try out on the flats, and you guys could do a comparisson and commentary on the difference in ride and feeling? Or maybe an FTP test? Not sure if you guys have done a video on that...

I just went back to a job that's 30 miles roundtrip commute. Let's just say I wasn't ready for it, especially with my heavy, old mountain bike, and being out of shape (Made it 28 miles then got an uber so I didn't get heatstroke lol). I'll be upgrading to a roadbike and solid tires hopefully when I can afford it. XD
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
I miss bike commuting life. That distance sounds rough on a heavy mtb, so a road bike or even single speed sounds like a good investment. Marathon tires are great for commuting, never got a flat

Understand you had some hot weather: Vietnam has recorded its highest ever temperature, just over 44C (111F) - with experts predicting it would soon be surpassed because of climate change. The record was set in the northern province of Thanh Hoa, where officials warned people to stay indoors during the hottest times of the day. Other countries in the region have also been experiencing extremely hot weather. Thailand reported a record-equalling 44.6C in its western Mak province. Meanwhile Myanmar's media reported that a town in the east had recorded 43.8C, the highest temperature for a decade...

I'm contemplating on getting some carbon wheels too. Is there a difference in ride quality between the alloy and carbon wheels in terms of stiffness, performance and comfort?
@TwoWheelCruise Жыл бұрын
Definitely a huge difference compared to allow rims. Feels better and faster.

Oh no, the tire logos aren't aligned with the valves 😂 They look good, I'm sure will feel faster and stiffer when cornering. Have fun 🤙

I do not like carbon spoked wheels. Sure they are light. But the carbon spokes being extremely stiff gives a jarring ride quality.
