Hello Eric, I have the 2000 G20 with 210,000 miles and running like a top but I'm about to change all shocks and struts. I'll be replacing the entire unit complete with springs. Do you have the part numbers for the front and rear? Best video I've seen for this job and thankfully the exact car I have. Thank you for all your G20 video's.
@tvwatcher9291 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for this. I'm contemplating doing this on my Miata toy car and have never used a spring compressor. Your video is very helpful. You mentioned in a comment that the car was often hitting the bumps stops and you wished the springs were stiffer. It's been 5 years since you posted how did the springs work out overall and did your new bump stops fix the bottoming out problem? Thanks.
@ERICSDIYGARAGE Жыл бұрын
Overall they are a great set of springs. It still bottoms out from time to time but I think that's just the limitations of use stock shocks on aftermarket springs. It's a good ride, and they are still holding up fine

Great video as always . I’ve been debating on this same job on my 3.5 Altima but not a big fan of the sport suspension that comes with the ser Altima so have been hesitant but now days the stock suspension is getting pretty rough so I will have to decide on something soon.

luvkosizia the car handles better with the lowering springs, also I have less body roll now. if you have the money I would say go with coilovers if your on a budget this is a great way to lower it and have a nice ride height.

I have questions. Are these short stroke KYB’s or the standard issue? I’m abit blind in the suspension sense. Pls forgive me for asking these. Lowered spring when combined with original struts / the ones usually combined with stock sized springs..... - Does this affect the overall feel of the vehicle? - will the feel be much better with shorter stroke designed for lowered spring? I know feel is subjective. But I’m wondering if there are inconsistencies in the ride. Been told that the standard size shocks will surely wear out a tad bit faster with lowered springs depending on how low is low. But does this affect the overall consistency and stability of the ride?
@ERICSDIYGARAGE5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment I made sure that I installed brand new shocks but I do know that if you are using your original shocks they will wear out much faster so far none of my shocks have been leaking and I don't have any issues with the right quality I do believe though that the Springs are too soft and you tend to bottom out a lot
@christiansenrobert81065 жыл бұрын
ERICSDIYGARAGE - which means your new shocks are the exact same as the original except they are new. Correct? Im in heavy contemplation of using a shock absorber best suited for lowering spring or the Monroe Oespectrum
@ERICSDIYGARAGE5 жыл бұрын
@@christiansenrobert8106 it's not the exact same shock it's an aftermarket that is build to meet or exceed original specifications. the car ride well and its comfortable in my opinion
