How come the state doesn't invest in protecting the signal cabinets with barriers?

What type of signals are easier to maintain: signals on mast arms or signals on span wires? Is it a matter of cost as to why some DOTs use them over soan wire setups?

I think answering questions in the comments on video is helpful. It makes it a personal experience for those who you answer. I love watching these videos and have learned way more about traffic signals and how they work watching these videos, and I am greatly appreciative of it.

I've been watching this channel for a while and somehow never knew you were based in Mississippi, I'm also in MS so it's nice to see how our local area handles traffic signals.

I love your channel, I’ve always been curious on traffic lights and how they work. What I like to know is how traffic lights know you’re there if no cameras are around? I’ve seen the city workers checking programs on lights before and I was curious on what they were doing. Thanks for sharing and I’m subscribed for all your new content.

There are several different traffic detection methods and technologies. Camera detection is one. Radar detection is another. Metal sensing (induction loop) has been popular for decades.

Traffic Light Doctor: Many salutations! It is a real adventure to see the back-stage work necessary to keep those traffic signals doing their thing. There is one thing perplexing me . . . why are you interchanging the doghouse? From what I can see in the video, the signals in question govern the road traffic crossing the far-side frontage road which flows from right to left. There are times when Dallas phasing does come in handy; for this particular situation, I do not see the need for an FYA.

I would love to see how you guys hang the signal heads on the pole but understandable that is hard to film and do the job safely. Loving the content!

What is the make and model of your green flashing lights on your trucks and where I can get and buy them
@sml1210814 ай бұрын
Out of curiosity, the doghouse had a five conductor and the FYA needs a four conductor how come you all ran all new wiring to the FYA? I'm not sure if you're into older signals but I have a few videos of my collection, there's some Crouse Hinds, Eagle, G.E. and Southern Autoflow. Anyways I enjoy the channel be safe out there.

Now you got me real curious on the boxes I see here in the Phoenix area in the peak summer months and how that equipment handles the air temps in triple digits 24/7 and how hot it really gets :P Dont really see air coolers working that great for all that electronic equipment
@JacTheRipper874 ай бұрын
What phase was the FYA going to be ? Phase 5 has the LED connected to the back panel. Usually indicates a problem in the field or used to keep a phase in operation while diagnosing a problem. Also why not have jack stands and a pipe on your truck you could set up the wire spool right on the end of the truck.

@streetsmartstraffic4 ай бұрын
Its not always just a direct path. However, the easist way is to 1st) Have a tech background i.e. electrical, electronics, programming, I've even seen a computer repairman get employed. 2nd) Look at path of least resistance...start checking around your local agencies Public Works departments. Local, County, State some type of government agency. You may be doing alot of everything but i they maintain signals, that's what you want. 3rd) Learn as much as you can, then start hoping to other agencies, contractors, employers and get PAID. Just my 2 cents

I would love to see how you bump out the traffic lights if the cables are not yet landed or labeled in the cabinet.

I was surprised that there aren't pull lines in the conduits for adding/changing cable at that DD.
@chrisschack97163 ай бұрын
Might not work so well, SOMEBODY has to set that up and they're pretty much one-time use unless you have enough slack on the end to pull it back.
@jovetj3 ай бұрын
@@chrisschack9716 Well, usually the pull line is pulled in with the regular cables. When it needs used to pull a new cable in, a replacement pull line is pulled along with it and then just left in place.
