Sir thank you very much for this video. I bought a 72 TR6 with rear main leak and it will help me tremendously.

Excellent, thank you. Your videos are quite informative, it is always a big help to see how these things can be done. I’m a Long time away from doing my rear main seal but your explanation will definitely be valuable.

Glad it helps. Since I did the video I discovered there is a churchill tool mentioned for that in the competition preparation guide. Let me know how yours goes!

Hi, thanks for a great video. I’m in the process of replacing the main seal. How do I do this with the engine in the bay?
@triumphrestoration74032 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam. I have never tried it with the engine still in the car. You would at minimum have to pull the gearbox out from the interior, and get at it that way. Myself, at that point, I would pull the engine. Likely if your rear seal on worn other things will need attention. Let me know how it goes. You might post that question on the Triumph Experience Forum and see if anyone there has done it with the engine in, and if they recommend it after having done so.

@@triumphrestoration7403 gearbox is out. Engine was completely rebuilt in 2013 and has about 8k mile on it. Compression test is very good. I should add that my car is a PI engine, RHD, with a mild upgrade cam.

@@sammoj9836 you would have to remove the flywheel, then do as I did in the video. Are you sure it is the seal leaking?
@sammoj98362 жыл бұрын
@@triumphrestoration7403 everything is out (trans, clutch, flywheel…)but the engine. I’m pretty sure its the seal. It doesn’t seem to have been placed well, not as diligently as you did. There seems to be more of a gap on the top than the bottom.

@@sammoj9836 be sure to measure and not rely on eyeballing it. Parallax will throw your eye off.
