Is it worth it? Yes. Did my entire 4Runner, floor, walls, and ceiling, front to back, and then added wool insulation to the floor, walls, and ceiling. Not only great with lowering interior noise but also significantly improved interior temperatures, cold or hot. I live in Arizona and mostly overland in the southwest. Thanks for sharing.

@@woody721 I apologize since I just saw this today. I hope you found an answer somewhere else. Again, I apologize. If you haven't, I used a single layer throughout, including the roof. This summer, 2023, I slept in my 4Runner during the day while I worked at night. With a 5k BTU AC window unit I slept comfortably the entire summer with outside temps reaching 119F. I would say the insulation is efficient. Again, I apologize for missing your question.

@@jatorresrvI already had the floorboard done by a shop. I had it done to reduce road noise because of my audio system. I ended up reducing flex from the roof by doing the roof myself. Kilmat was used for both applications.

The ridged rollers are nice because you can easily tell what you have already rolled.

Doors, A-pillars, and then the back panel next to the truck bed are the biggest noise contributors, imo. Also, dB is logarithmic, so you can't use percentages unless you know how log works...

Great work. Some other areas to consider: * Tires themselves generate a lot of noise. Find a balance of on road / offroad needs, but a well-designed on road tire will be quiet, grippy, and lower fuel use. * Exhaust and engine isolation. Make sure mounts and hangers are new with good quality soft rubber. Avoid solid mounts. * Test and retorque suspension and body nuts and bolts. * Pure exhaust volume. If modified, a loud exhaust can reverb back into the vehicle, especially droning. Consider retrofitting a late model exhaust from a scrapyard. * The firewall itself in the cabin. Hard to get access to all the firewall, but it faces all the engine and open road noise. * Other panels bolted to the body but not a part of the cabin can transfer vibrations to the cabin structure. Hood, front fenders, truck tray, sidings, and tailgate. * Multi-frequencies. Different isolation products only reduce sounds within set frequency ranges. Apply additional products where it counts. Use a decent sound spectrum analyser to know which frequencies are still strong. * Wiring hardness. It is heavy and can move and vibrate against the body. Wrap it in a fireproof felt product. * Good luck, it's a fun challenge. 🙂

Under-body can be achieved by getting it rust proofed with one that also has a sound deadner in it as well if ya take it to the right place.

Bro you need to do the inside skin of the doors and not just the inner sides of the doors and also the back panel. My Tundra has a back window so I took the panel off of that back wall and did the inside back wall and the back side of the panel. Made a big difference. Also doing the full doors will really help your sound system.

I watched a walk around on another channel where the now owner of tiny rig Co talked about he three layer system he used to sound deton his Tacoma. Then watched a bunch of other videos to understand usage of the 3 materials and I think it made a huge difference in my truck. I know the pain you're going through with how much work it takes to do it but trust me that rear firewall will make a big difference.

Yeah I might have to tackle that in the spring! I also need new tires. The Duratracs are noisey

@@pnwxplore not only that, but a close cell foam is what reduces interior noise the most on top of a vibration reduction material like you laid down.
@fmtien Жыл бұрын
You should have added a layer of closed cell foam over the butyl layer. That makes a difference.

I did mine a few years ago, and can happily state it DID make a difference. I did the doors, the floor, the x-cab, even the roof! My only concern afterwards was how much hotter it'd be in the summer. I think it does make it a bit hotter, but not unbearable.... Using a heat gun is the way to go - makes it real easy to smush the pcs into place
