I kinda like the rake, but I hear ya on the wanting to keep it dead level. Was also thinking, if you put some crossbars off the frame and under the bed, might make the bed floor solid enough that you could safely pack your drag slicks and tools in the back when you haul out to race day or down Mexico way, maybe? After the cross-country trailer madness I had last week (editing videos now, you'll see what I mean after I post all three), I figure the more I can get away with not having to haul a trailer, the better. Lol

If the rake isn’t too bad I’ll probably leave it as-is so I don’t have to modify the rear suspension angles and such. Shoot me a message with the links on Facebook messenger when you get them posted, I don’t always see notifications. I’m gonna have to do cross beams anyway to bolt the wood to so I’ll probably stiffen them up so I can haul a load. I usually always have my slicks, a jack and some homemade track bite in the back so that’s not a half bad idea. I’m excited to see your videos!

I've seen a guy use an engine hoist to remove a truck bed here on KZbin. I suppose one can be used to install a bed too. That's how I planned to do it. A buddy is helping me with my truck. I'm going from a long bed chassis to a short bed chassis. It appears a previous shop may not have cut the bed down properly. My friend suggested moving the wheel wells to center the rear wheels. I want to preserve the patina on my truck so he may need to move the rear end. If you are repainting your truck maybe moving the wheel wells is a great option for you.

Right on! That’s a good idea with the engine hoist. I won’t be painting the truck, it’s been like this since I first built it in 2016 🙂 Good luck with your truck build

Nice project. I'm looking for a bed swap on a 1957 Chevrolet. What year bed are you using and what year and make vehicle, are the lights from , that are on top of the bed fenders .

The bed sides are the same from 1955-1987, the fenders for this style truck are from 1955 to 1966 The lights on the top of the fenders are from a late 80s ambulance, I added those myself
