I've only installed the strap locks on my Epiphone Flying V ...it's a simple process. You did a fine job demonstrating how it's done

Rough starting that nut. Suggest put nut on first without washer and tighten down nut real tight. Then it's a little easier starting that nut. I used same exact strap and locks as in the video and struggled starting that nut before pre-tightening nut without the washer.

im an ibanez player and the schaller strap locks old and new style come with screws that are smaller in diameter than the hole thats in the guitar so you cant get the strap lock button tight in the guitar. i have tried to get different screws at the hardware store with no success, total nightmare. the right size screw that fits the guitar hole nice and tight is to big to go in the schaller button hole (old style) drilling out the button is waaay to hard and near impossible to do by hand. the new style you cant change the screw at all. do you or anybody have any tips or tricks to get these to fit nice and tight in a bigger hole? (thats what she said) thanks......

It's definitely not the best method for securing the button but people often cut toothpicks to size and place them in the hole before screwing it in. A better option is to plug the hole and redrill it to the correct size.

It's a #5 screw that comes with kit. Had the same problem, so I went to hardware store and got a size #6 screw twice as long. I had to shave the circumference of screw head a bit so it would fit through the opening in button. The oversize #6 and twice as long screw I bought screwed in nice and tight.

Actually it's a badly designed piece of hardware. The upper bout of a Strat comes to a rounded off point and if you use the screw supplied it's too short and too narrow so there's a good chance that the screw and the strap button will bend and/or split the wood. The bottom one is screwed into a flatter surface which will give the strap button and screw more support as you screw the button up against the flatter surface. It looks like an accident waiting to happen. Just look at the assembly from the side, the new strap button is too far away from the point of contact i.e.the tip of the horn.

Yeah this actually happened to me. The button hole became super stretched out so I just switched to a wider screw. Can’t go back now...I’m not able to re-sell it stock, but I’ve done so many mods to it I wouldn’t be able to anyway. It’s a super strat
