Looks a bit more modern then the old brivas dial control 😂 Not easy to install into a brick wall though. In fact I don’t think it’s designed to be, I just customised it a bit to work.

We have a lot of crawl space installed split systems and package systems in some areas of the USA. We put 6 mil clear plastic over dirt in the entire crawl space. Provide some powered cross ventilation, more and larger vents, a screen door into crawl space. You’ll have more rust and mold on and inside the Daikin because of condensation, especially with little ventilation and no plastic. We mount our air handlers on concrete block and pressure treated 4”x4”. Sturdy, no vibrations and no threaded rods to work around when servicing.

Nice mate. This underfloor was dry. It had ventilation running all day on a timer. I don’t install many underfloor units, not very common here. Cheers

Haven’t seen those Air Hub Controllers before… Looks very similarly to the NEO controller from Actron. Is it a new product from Daikin? Im keen to see you post a video on it

Yeah mate, they are about a year old however this is only the second time I have installed one. I’m posting a video in a couple of days where I show you the controller in detail and my honest opinion on the new setup. The AirHub incorporates temp sensors in each room which control the airflow.

Thanks mate, I have a Daikin underfloor in my apartment and it works really good. I’d prefer to have a unit in a roof space personally but when it’s not possible under floors are a good option 👍🏻

@@robalexander7348 with Daikin it is because the air handler is designed to be dismantled to get into the roof cavity and then re assembled in the roof cavity. That’s actually how I get all the Daikin air handlers in the roof. That’s also how I got this one through the underfloor access hatch.

Did you have to make the floor outlets larger to allow for the greater flow with the new Daikin unit? We have underfloor gas ducted, and I'm keen to swap to Reverse Cycle and hoping we can still use the same vents.

The gas furnace had 100 x 300 (neck size) vents in the bedrooms which we re used however I upsized the ducting going to the vent. In the living spaces I upsized the vents to 150 x 350 and also upsized the ducting. So to answer your question, if you want to change over to Air Conditioning from Gas Heating, you’ll definitely need to modify the ducting and potentially the vents. 100% Cheers mate

So I have ripped out all the ducting from the gas furnace. Then they insulated the floor boards when the underfloor was empty. Then I returned to install new ducting. I did that because I wanted to upsize all the ducting. The existing furnace ducting had 6” duct to the bedrooms and 8” to the living spaces. It had 1 x 12” duct for the return. I have installed 2 x 16” for the return and 10” to all supply vents. I will post a video in a couple of days showing you the new vents in the floor. Cheers

Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between a Daikin VRV and normal Daikin model?

Good question mate. A standard ducted unit has 1 outdoor unit and 1 indoor unit. A VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) has one outdoor unit (can technically have more then one) and many indoor units. The benefit is you can control each indoor unit individually where as if you only have the one indoor unit (like a ducted air conditioner in a home) then you have to have the same setting in all rooms.

Did the owner try heating with the old Panasonic?

So this house had central gas heating (brivas) and they had a little Panasonic ductless mini split in one of the rooms for cooling. It still worked totally fine and yes it worked on heating. They wanted it removed as they don’t need it anymore with the new central air con.

Yeah that’s absolutely normal mate. It means it’s working well. I’d be concerned if it wasn’t producing water.

I’m not sure on the exact details however I think you will need to apply for a work holiday visa and once that is approved, you just send your resume to companies who are advertising. Cheers mate

Service techs on average are around $45/hr

You get paid well as a tradie in Australia. It’s supply versus demand and in Australia, no one wants to be a tradie so there’s a shortage. For that reason, we get paid well compared to other countries.

Nah mate. I don’t even know how many you have to buy to be in that group haha. I have an account and get everything from the same Daikin trade centre but we are a small company so don’t sell that much in the big scheme of things
