Have you ever thought about using sheepwool instead of chemical sprayfoam for closing gaps. It seems that today real wool has become a wasteproduct, maybe in combination with cob it could be a usefull form of naturel insulation.

No reason to install a left-hand swing door where a right-hand swing door is needed. simply solve the problem by moving the door opening to the opposite corner of that wall. All you have to do is remove a few screws and relocate some studs. Second mistake was installing all of the metal ties to the inside of the building. 1/2 of the ties are supposed to mount to the inside and the second 1/2 are supposed to mount to the outside. This arrangement locks the door frame into the center of the opening. Third mistake is installing the door ON TOP of the bottom plate. Dessy pointed this out. The bottom plate should have been cut out and the door sill sat directly on the cement. The sill is designed to have a 3/4" floor (19mm) thick butt up against the sill so there is no trip hazard going in or out of the door. And the finished floor would have been close to the same height as the sill coming from the main house - a nice smooth transition.

Next time you have a have thing like that to lift put it flat in front off the opening. Lift the bottom heavy part onto the door frame then both of you tip it into place. That way you are controlling the tipping not the lifting and pivoting at the same time. .

I?live in the USA and the patio doors sold here open from both ways..so what happens if you go out that door and it shuts behind you..your gona have to walk all the way thru the house thru a different entrence to get back to where u started at..its jus dont make any sense to me..guess were spoiled in the states..lol..hagd

David, you need to cut the bottom plate out and put down a water pan and sealant underneath the door, Please please do this or you will have constant problems
