good progress .....I like the way that you always do some comprehensive research into current electrical and gas safety regulations and recommendations. The electronic auto and manual switched shutoff gas valve is an excellent feature and I'm going to fit one to my Transit campervan. I bet when you were watching the hob video during editing you thought to yourself ........mmm why didn't I just turn the hob upside down to get the jet out lol

Thanks John, Truma sells a gas solenoid & switch but quite expensive. I’ve used an eBay special 12v solenoid only £12 but should do the job just the same. Hopefully it doesn’t need to be CE marked for the gas check. Haha that would be too easy.

For future reference pushing a loose nut, or in this case jet, into the socket with the socket end covered in paper will retain the nut / jet and avoid the fiddly ball ache you experienced.

nice job and well explained. Is it ok to use a clip on bottle and regulator instead of bulkhead mounted? Do you find the loose burners and pot stand a problem when traveling?
@TurnersWorkshop977 ай бұрын
Thank you, I’d recommend a bulkhead regulator. I’m not sure if the clip on type meet the regs but know that the bulkhead do 🤔 never had a problem with the burners coming loose when driving. Don’t think they sell this hob anymore though unfortunately.

Hi! do you have an issue with the burners and grill being able to fly off under heavy braking with that hob? It doesn’t look very safe to me, but maybe they clamp down
@TurnersWorkshop975 ай бұрын
With this hob I never had an issue with the burners coming off. This is one of the reasons I bought it. Not sure Argos still sell it though unfortunately.

Thanx for the video. My hob just came today. After unpacking it. How do I know if it is set up for NG or LPG when it comes out of then box?
@TurnersWorkshop97 Жыл бұрын
No problem, thanks for watching. It should have a sticker on it saying if it’s set up for NG or LPG so you just change the sticker and jets accordingly

No sticker on mine. Just the normal CE tech sticker.

Sorry for the late message I work nights. I’m buying a camper van with a 3.9kg calor gas bottle that’s exchangeable connected to a regulator on a flexible rubber hose which is linked to a copper pipe fitted to a Cramer 4 burner gas hob. This is only available for exchange in England. I want to travel Europe where these bottles you are selling can be refilled. Can I turn this system into lpg? If so I would like to purchase this but I have no idea where to start. Can you help me out with any tips? Thanks alot!
@TurnersWorkshop975 ай бұрын
Hey no problem at all, sorry for the delay getting back to you! I would look at either getting a refillable LPG cylinder which will be cheaper in the long run or switching to campingaz which is widely available in Europe :)

Is it normal for the emergency gas shut off solenoid to get really hot to touch Thanks
@TurnersWorkshop97 Жыл бұрын
The coil inside the solenoid valve will get warm. If you’re in the uk it’s been really hot over the past few days so could be high ambient temperature also perhaps?
@simonbecheley7667 Жыл бұрын
@TurnersWorkshop97 OK, yeh it gets pretty hot, do you switch yours on only when gas is in use, or keep it on permanently Cheers
@TurnersWorkshop97 Жыл бұрын
@simonbecheley7667 only when gas is in use 👍🏼

Not sure if a dumb question but, if my system is all 12V will the igniters still work even if the product specifies 230V ?
@TurnersWorkshop972 жыл бұрын
Never a dumb question my friend. If you want to use the 230v ignition then you will need to incorporate an inverter in your electrical setup which will convert the 12v dc to 230v ac. If you didn’t want to use an inverter you can use matches or maybe look for a hob with piezo ignition.
@benjohnson18872 жыл бұрын
Does the hob have to be attached to 240v? Noticed the plug. Or can that just be ignored?
@TurnersWorkshop972 жыл бұрын
Good question. The 240v is for the ignition so you can ignore it if you’re not going to use an inverter. Just means you will need to use a lighter or matches 👍🏼

Roughly how much copper pipe did you use in the end? My gas bottle is almost directly below my hob so I feel like 2m should be enough but not sure
@TurnersWorkshop97 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I used roughly 5 meters maybe less

Amazing, thank you! Also wondering if you happen to have a link for the solenoid valve you used as I can’t find any that take 8mm pipe?

@@weetailsy3 No worries, this is the solenoid valve I used - ebay.us/G9kw3d It has 1/4" connections so you will need some adapters. www.bes.co.uk/straight-adaptor-uk-compression-8mm-x-1-4in-6676/
