I have the SE 300 on 150 yamaha engine more than 5 years and works perfect. Now I install the SE 400(drill free) on 225 mercury optimax and after 10-15hours of use in one month LOST IT ON THE SEA!!! They must redesign it.

This is just like an "elevator flap" on an airplane. The increased control surface going thru the water is just like going down the highway at 60mph, put your "Flat" hand out the window and angle up then down. The air lifts the weight of your entire arm or plunges downward when tilted down. That same action is much more effective in the water. When traveling forward in a boat under power, take an oar and dip it in the water and change the angle on the face while moving forward. The oar will immediately react to the different positions either push or pull, lift or drag. Now increase the control surface on the outboard with a foil unit, and use it to lift the transom to reduce water tension drag on the hull, which will cause the boat to plane much faster and top speed better and less power required for cruise speed resulting in lower fuel burn, the foil will pay for itself in the first couple outings in fuel savings. ***What Everyone forgets, is that you Must adjust the angle of the motor so the wing lifts instead of goes down. They work Fantastic, and the people who don't believe are doing it wrong and simply don't understand how to correctly adjust the motor trim. And, after 10 years of using foils, the best we've seen yet is SE Sport brand 200 300 400 (just throw away the tape and use stainless bolts with nyloc nuts and do it right) 😊😎 Ps. I just bought one of these and my Boat has a problem when your going very slow not even plain front of boat likes to lift high. Trimming motor down helps some so what do you recommend when I get this installed on Trimming

Installed the smaller foil to my 15hp Fuel injected Mercury. Defiantly kept the nose down on take of and got up to plane super quick but came at a cost.Top speed was noticeably slower.

I had one on my honda 25. It does everything they say it will. I best liked staying on plane at low speed considering my conditions here. Broke it hitting a cypress knee.

I've just recently got the SE Sport 200 for my mercury 15hp 4 stroke. It was driving me "nuts" to know where to place the rubber washers. In between the hydrofoil and cavitation plate? or underneath the cavitation plate followed by small washers and lock nuts? The package came with bugger all instructions. Cant even get onto the official SE Sports website. And other KZbin videos out there show them putting the bolts in from underneath the cavitation plate with the nuts and metal washers on top. Christ I wish someone could set the record straight. I even phoned a marine outlet and they told me to place the rubber washers on top of the hydrofoil and thread the bolts thru. Unbelievable.That's darn crazy. Anyways I like what you have done and so I shall place them underneath.

Well just fitted one to a mariner 115. Will see if it makes any improvement to it. Then will most likely drill and bolt to be safe i think. If it don't fall off first.

My 300 stayed on for almost an entire season only to fall off. My 400 immediately slipped back approximately 3 inches after a couple of runs at speed. I re-tightened it after the first use only to find it slip back 3 to 4 inches again. If I tighten the bolts anymore, they will break (which happened to one of my bolts during my initial installation). Any suggestions? I really would like to keep the hydrofoil on; however, I’m literally throwing my money away. Thanks for any advice you may be willing to provide. Jim

James Bernthal James, there were some Sport 400s shipped without clear instructions on the position of the 2" rubber washers. Also, some of the rubber was too hard for a good grip on the bottom of the cavitation plate. Check to make sure the rubber washers cover the "step" on the top of the Disk-Grips and don't hesitate to ask us for the softer rubber washers. Don't trust it ! I Broke bolts, then bought new ones for good tightening, then i lost the TWO SE 400 on first ride ! drill holes and you won't loose your money !
