I've installed the Yamaha original fly screen on the XSR 900 in a much easier way than what the instructions ask.
UPDATE: This screen is FANTASTIC!! The wind protection is AMAZING for such a small screen, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I watched your video, it helped me to decide that I didn't want to use your method and I removed the headlight instead which, was really easy and took half the time of your installation. Appreciate your videos, keep up the good work.

Yeah, I thought it would be much harder following the correct method, I guess I was wrong. Anyway, my installation is still in place, so I guess that's worth something? :D Remember, kids, don't do what I do!

@@CriticalRider Well said. Yes, your method did work and pleased to hear it's still in-place :-) I went out on my bike yesterday and discovered I didn't need an extra layer under my jacket as the flyscreen stopped the wind getting to my chest. I'm pleased with it.

Your English is actually very good. I'm thinking about buying one of these Yamaha bikes next year. Don't know which one I want yet but it will probably be an FJ09 or the XSR 900. I like the FJ09 also but I think it would look really stupid with a big fly screen/windshield. The XSR 900 might also look stupid with a large windshield, I haven't seen one yet, if someone even makes one. I may have to go with the FJ09 if I want a large windshield. However there's a company that makes a cool replacement headlight for round headlights like the XSR. It's led and it lights up the left or right side of the road as the bike leans that way. I've got a year or so to decide, for now I'll just continue to ride my old 1983 LTD Kawasaki.

I know that headlight, and it's pretty cool! But it's so expensive... I think I'd rather spend that money in Ohlins goodies...

This bike is in my parents place in another country, it's my vacation bike, so I'm away from it for long periods. But I didn't sell it, I love it! Can't wait to get back to her...

G R I got this bike 3 months ago (it's my 2nd big bike). Highly recommended. Loads of aftermarket kit to put on. Turns heads regularly and has enough go. I haven't accessed all hp in A mode yet. Loads of informational videos on KZbin from oil changes to headlight replacement. Good luck whatever you go with!

I'm no longer with the bike, back at home. I can assure you it's VERY GOOD! The wind protection on the highway left me speechless from such a tiny screen! Highly recommended.

I have a question for you about the length of the M6 hex socket bolt, mine are 30mm what are yours? I'm looking to remove the spacer on the USA headlight and side brackets, So I won't need the spacers included in the windscreen kit but I need proper bolts lengths.

No idea!! It's been a while and the bike is a 3h flight from me, so I can't check either. Sorry, can't help you with this one... :(

What camera are you using on this video?

It's a Panasonic LX100. I dropped it on my trip to Australia and broke the rear screen, so I don't use it anymore.

OMG, just unscrew the head light. takes 30 seconds. now your going to scratch up you whole light bezel and your actually using pliers to tighten it. uhggg. hope nobody follows this. just follow the instructions.

Nothing got scratched and it took half the time! What are you talking about?

Critical Rider I now own this bike and realize the headlight bucket is plastic so yes hard to scratch but your putting a video on KZbin showing an install process which is completely wrong. Your not only showing people the wrong way to put it on but also showing people the wrong tools to use. If your not confident or obviously not experienced enough to do it correctly then keep it off You tube. I just installed the Dart flyscreen the correct way. That's what I am talking about. Use constructive criticism to your advantage.

I'm showing how I installed it, and I'm very clear in my video that I'm not an expert. If you don't like it, take it as an example of how not to do it. I'm sure plenty of people can do it better than me, so what? I recorded my installation and shared with my followers.

Critical Rider I appreciate your honesty and appreciate that you post videos so people can see the parts. Maybe I was over critical but following the directions will actually help you with the install, take less time and let you get to know the bike better. I give you credit for at least trying.
@bwxmoto

I disagree, because if you took the headlight out then you would have to re-align it which is a pain and takes time. I don't think there's anything wrong with how he installed it.

Why not remove headlight and do the job properly? , it's not hard, only couple of bolts and wiring to unplug. You made me cringe when you used pliers to tighten the bolt. You need to invest some money on decent tools or leave tools in the toolbox. Cheap Allen keys and wrenches are going to slip, ruin the beautiful finish on the bike. Or injure yourself. Please don't take offence, it's great you take the time to make these install videos for your bike for us to see.
@CriticalRider
@CriticalRider 7 жыл бұрын
It was easier this way for sure, removing the headlight is not that easy. And I mentioned a couple of videos before, I'm not in my garage. This is my parents' place, I have the proper tools in my garage so I'm not going to buy everything twice. This had to do, and it did, so no worries :)

Critical Rider Sorry didn't realise that you were away from your proper tools. Bike looks brilliant with all the additional parts. How do you find the XSR compared to the Tracer? Bearing in mind they share the same engine, is the tune on the Tracer softer or the same? Thanks for your videos
@CriticalRider
@CriticalRider 7 жыл бұрын
They're exactly the same, but the XSR has a few upgrades: slipper clutch, improved rear shock, correct throttle-by-wire, proper sport tyres. These are small niggles in the Tracer that have been fixed on the XSR '16 and on the MT-09 '17. Overall they make the bike a little bit better and easier to ride, but apart from that they're the same. The riding position is also different, of course. Apart from this, there are no changes between the two.
