I got one of them hydraulic 150hp steering last year for a Honda 200hp motor it's been great so far ... You will see on the steering rack it's rated to 300hp the hem is rated 150hp bleeding takes a long time if you go by the directions , quick and easy way is to put two bleed hose on each end of the rack going into a clear recovery bottle so you can see the air coming out and oil , then fill up the hem spinning the wheel at the same time in both directions until no air comes out of the rack then tighten the bleeding ends ,, steering should be working , also I just used auto trans oil witch is hydraulic fluid anyway and cheaper and can buy from anywhere.. hope my bleeding tip is understandable

Hey @robokiss7822, thanks for the tip. It's great tonhear that your system is still working after a year. I agree about what fluid you used! I just installed the same unit onto my buddies pontoon boat with a 90hp merc. He's happy with it as well. We did what you said in the bleeding process. It's easier when theres 2 ppl doing it! Lol. Also, thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

That backing plate is cadmium plated steel. I like how you swapped the bleeder on the one side, it makes for better hose alignment. I think I’m going to put the 150 kit on my new G3 1860 w/90 hp.

Cadmium, does it rust? I just kind of wanted to see SS for that backing plate. I like to try to set thingings up so that they last as long as they can. I go by "Plan and plan again, then execute." I've seen ppl try and rotate the T peace and then snap it right at the threads! I just wanted to show that you could swap the connection without damaging anything. Just double-check the tilt tube inner diameter of your motor and that it will work with the kit you want. From what I remember there was 3 kids, a small medium and large. I thought mine was gonna be the small kit. But after reviewing the Inner diameter of the tilt tube, it ended up being the medium kit, which is the one that I got, so just pay attention to that. Thanks again for watching the video and leaving a comment and your questions.

Just bought this kit for my boat. You said you would leave a link to the video you watched for bleeding the system and I don't see that in the description anywhere. It looks pretty straight forward but, could you provide the link to that video please?

How much time did it take to swap out the steering system?
@416Expedition
@416Expedition 23 күн бұрын
Hey @NuthaRedneck , Thank you for your question and for watching the video. It took me about 4 hrs! The hardest part of the whole thing was removing the old steering cable system. There wasn't enough space between the motor and the haul to remove the main Stainless Steele rode that goes into the tilt tube. So I had to make a choice either remove the motor or cut the rod! I did a steering swap for my friend pontoon boat. That went so much quicker, 2 hours.

Thanks for sharing! Curious to get your impressions on the system in the water. Any issues? Satisfied with the quality and operation?

Hey @mra4107 thanks for dropping by and leaving you question. We're in the middle of filming the video of our thoughts. But I can say that as of right I'm really happy with this product and it is performing how it's advertised. Definitely making boating through the marina and rivers and anywhere that you have to constantly turn the wheel much easier. Our cable system was really bad, so we had to fight to turn the boat. No issues as of yet, which is great, I'll get into a more in-depth review and my thoughts on this product. Stay tuned for the next video.

Are you able to shorten the hoses?
@416Expedition
@416Expedition 2 ай бұрын
Hey @clarkmiles9233. Yes you are able to shorten the hose to the size you need. This kit cam with 20ft hoses and I didn't need the full length. The hose only hold the hydraulic fluid, the pump is what pushes the fluid to the "ram", the "ram" is what pushes the motor left or right. What I did before cutting the lines was I turned turn the motor all the way to the right as this would extend the lines giving me the full length of line that I need to know, then adding some extra line so that I can pull the pump out from the dash so that I have length to service the system. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@416Expedition awesome. Ordered the 300HP kit and it was cheaper to get 20ft hoses than 14ft hoses. Going on my 278 DC stratos with a 150hp. Hoping it works out.

Is the seastar fluid not capable of working with vevor
@416Expedition

From what I have gathered it seams so, but I couldn't justify spending $100 CAD a quart. The price had me turning away very quickly so I didn't do to much research on this product.

So I've noticed that some reviews that are bad are from people that used Teflon tape to seal the threads. I don't think with hydraulic systems Teflon should be used with the size orifices in the helm and pump. If any Teflon gets in there it will cause issues. Just curious if you've had any issues since you've installed the system?
@416Expedition
@416Expedition Ай бұрын
Hey @mychaelmitchell4632, thanks for the question. I have not had any issues so fare with the joints or the system. No leaks. When I spoke to the hydraulic guys, they said that it shouldn't hurt it. So that's why I went with it. There's also a rubber "O" ring that seals the joints. I just wanted the tape there to keep water from getting into the threads.
