It's been pretty good so far, only has to swap the battery one time. It's really convenient because I don't have to carry my house keys with me anymore.

Definitely, you can either manually add/remove guests or have it synced to your Airbnb account so that it automatically creates one when a new guest books your place! You can do this all from the app.

I think it'd be a hassle to ask every Airbnb guest that you have to install the August Lock app to get access to the room. It'd be much easier to just get a lock with a keypad or get a doorknob with a keypad on it. Check this one out: amzn.to/3yniI9a

Do you have experience with that ? I have heard other reviewers say that the locks from a very long distance, and due to that it may accidentally open.

Technically, it connects via Bluetooth. But there's a small device called the August bridge that connects to your WiFi (it's included in the package). That way, you can control your lock from anywhere in the world! We use this to add/remove codes for our guests.

Hey Thoa, I didn't encounter any error with registration. Usually when that happens, I try resetting my phone or reinstalling the app. Let me know if that works!

I had one and the number of times it breaks and you get a bad review makes the mind boggle! Yale are a company I don't trust any more! Seriously how can you recommend it?? Even when it works old folk get stuck!

I had the YalexNest on my Airbnb and it didn't have any issues. It's true that people were often confused about how to turn on the lock since there's no obvious "wake up" button. But it's really convenient since you're able to open the door remotely if you need to (through the app). This version has a keyhole, so in the worst-case scenario, we can tell the guest to find the secret key (that we've hidden somewhere on the property).

What if the house doesn't have wi-fi?

If the house doesn't have wifi, then you can't use the app to remotely change passwords or unlock the door with the app. You can always hardcore passwords on the lock itself and open it with the touch pad.

@@sheelaghortega2813 ​ Good question! From what I understand, this is a "Bluetooth" activated device. There's a module block that comes with the smart lock that connects to wifi and sends bluetooth signals to the door lock if you try to make changes to the lock outside of your house. I'm pretty sure the module takes 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wifi. Hope this helps!

I don't think the smartlock always needs to be online. Once you add the guest, the code will work for the doorlock until you remove it. In the worst case, you can hide a physical key somewhere for them to use if the electronic door lock malfunctions or runs out of battery.
