We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version kzbin.infoUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

@ACME Locksmith Hello Robert. I have a question for you. Right in the beginning you said that this device doesn't need a hub. But it looks like it does need a hub which you show at 3:27 ? This hub is needed to connect the Yale lock to Wifi, otherwise the lock cannot by itself connect to Wifi. Is my understanding correct
@LocksmithRecommended4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, I was not clear. Not a traditional, 3rd party hub that you have to go through a lot of programming to connect to (like Zigbee or Zwave). There is a small plugin wifi connector dedicated to this product that connects it to the wifi with any hassle.

@LocksmithRecommended2 жыл бұрын
No worries! This is still our favorite lock of 2022. If the internet goes down everything at the lock will work exactly as it's supposed to. All you lose is the wifi control from the phone, because the phone won't be able to communicate with the lock until the internet comes back up.

2 questions: Is it loud and do you need to leave an app open and running in the background on your smartphone? Thanks.
@LocksmithRecommended5 жыл бұрын
Think of this as a pull monitoring system. Not a push. That is, you open the app to check status, issues codes, read log, etc...It does not automatically notify you.

I need to know if it has a auto lock?my old Yale had it looking to upgrade.
@LocksmithRecommended4 жыл бұрын
Yes. It can be set to auto lock. If you are going to use auto lock, I'd recommend the lever version of the lock, instead of the deadbolt. The reason being is that if the deadbolt autolocks and then you try to close the door, you'll hit and damage the frame as in this photo. www.acmelocksmith.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/dmage-done-by-auto-extracting-db-290x400.jpg. You can get the lever version on Amazon here: amzn.to/34i6qmt

If I purchase the "Standalone" lock (as shown on the Yale website), does it come with the August bridge? Or do I need to order the Z-Wave or Zigbee upgrade?
@LocksmithRecommended4 жыл бұрын
Il not sure how they sell it on their website. But you don't want zigbee or zwave. You want the CBA upgrade. Some come with and some don't. We have them on our website here. www.acmelocksmith.com/buy-safes-online/yale-touch-screen-bluetooth-deadbolt-yrg426.html

Scheduling in this way is not support. You can set it to auto lock but not at a specific time.
@thatcanadian66984 жыл бұрын
Isn't the auto unlock feature a weak point? What if your phone is stolen and the thief knows where you live? The lock doesn't know who's carrying the phone and would open for anyone who's holding it. Is there a range limit for it? Could the lock open, accidentally, in the middle of the night if it picks up the phones signal even if it's upstairs in the bedroom?
@LocksmithRecommended4 жыл бұрын
No. The phone has to be unlocked to use the feature. The app does not have to be open, but the phone has to be unlocked.

Q.1 What if I’m the bad guy, and I only want to break into to rich homes. The ones that would spend this kind of money for a lock. So I order one of these with August. I take it out of box and program it but link it to wifi on my phone by setting up a hotspot. I then go to a house that has this lock. Rip the cover off, and pull the owners August out, plug my bridge into the power socket by the front door, plug my August into the owners lock, wait for it to reconnect to my bridge, crank the app and unlock the door!!! Popping the cover off the key pad looks like a piece of cake! Is this possible? Of course I’ve canvased the area to make sure there are enough of these locks to go to the trouble. Of course I replace the house owners August, it relocks the door automatically, remove my bridge from that convenient socket by the door. The owner returns to find the house has been broken into. And even though the plastic cover on the lock has been destroyed, the lock is working perfectly. Hmm! I believe the August should be inside the house side of the lock!
@LocksmithRecommended3 жыл бұрын
It is on the inside of the door.

I have a question. What is the difference between buying the August version that you have in your video; and buying it directly from the Yale website that supports the Bluetooth and WiFi, Do they work the same as far as features are concerned. I figure you use the August app for functionality purposes and Yale has their own app I’m guessing which maybe the only difference and the fact that your using a August module in the lock.
@LocksmithRecommended3 жыл бұрын
Yale acquired August and incorporated their technology. Prior to this, the Yale locks required 3rd party hubs like zigbee or zwave to get wifi phone app support and that was a pain. What you want, no matter where you get it from, is the Yale product with CBA (connect by August). That gives you the technology you want. The old Yale app was for their old product, the new app is basically the August app. It's available on Amazon: amzn.to/2Q31QUE Full disclosure. ACME Locksmith gets a small commission if you purchase using that link.
