Destructive discombobulation, entertaining nonetheless. Don't turn it on - take it apart! And... fixed - I wouldn't expect that :) Great rants on right-to-own-things, much appreciated. I would use flat pieces of plastic glued underneath the surface for reinforcement.

CA glue sets up with moisture from the air. Now that it's winter it's likely the air is very dry in your workshop - have you checked the air humidity?
@RinoaL18 күн бұрын
Funny enough it was kinda humid that day. I think its just cheap glue

It's a bit like the warranty spring - the spring that's designed to break the day after the warranty expires.

You should invest in a plastic welding kit from harbor freight. Much stronger fix than super glue.

Toaster ovens are great, actually I think the 3 in 1's but with a large toaster oven, coffe maker and skillet would be actually a perfect household thing. WITH insulation, and with metal and porcelain metal parts! Plastic is the devils excrement! And instant friers or boilers are UNNACEPTABLE. Less than zero.

Deja vu. Vince did one with a very similar failure. Gee. Meanwhile I am getting into arguments with my family and getting called "weird" and "crazy" because I refuse to buy this designed to fail plastic crap. It's all very simple design, we need to just make a set of open source appliances.
@RinoaLАй бұрын
I agree

It seems that the air fryer wasn't designed to be repaired. Would it not have been possible to roughen the inside with sandpaper and then bond it with epoxy resin? Perhaps attaching a thin fiberglass mat could have worked?
@RinoaLАй бұрын
Im only charging her $10 and she didnt mind that it was cracked anyway so I decided to not bother. I may have tried that 3m glue but this is a weird plastic like dhpe
@debeerizАй бұрын
instantpot may not make things easy to fix but they do supply spares, did you try and get a new top cover
@RinoaLАй бұрын
No I havent looked into that, just fixed what she asked

Superglue doesn't work other than on skin. I'd recommend two component superglue or two component plastic "weld", really the plastic weld is some variation of epoxy. I'm not american but where I live these products are way cheaper than loctite superglue.

This is commonly why we cannot repair items at the repair cafe, we just can't get into them, usually the repair itself is simple, it's either impossible clips or one fastener that is a security fastener, or down a deep narrow hole too small for the screwdriver.
@RinoaLАй бұрын
Oh that's right I recall you mentioning the repair cafe. That figures that you have that issue, and how they have a thousand different models with no plastic parts shared between them.
@debeerizАй бұрын
l run a drill down those deep holes to get a screwdriver down

That lid is probably made out of HDPE which is a bastard to repair! Nothing wants to stick to it and there is no glue that I know of that will bind two pieces together.
@RinoaLАй бұрын
Yeah it feels like HDPE, i think id rather 3d print a new one

I changed the switch and it still doesn't work so it must be something with the computer that I am not qualified to do

Take your hair dryer, or a mild-med. set heat gun and heat the area local to the clip you're working at the moment. Soften it up a bit and it's much easier to release. Be well, Rinoa.

Sadly I dont have a hair dryer nor a heat gun, I need to get one

There is a product that i use for making super glues instantly cure, its a ca kicker, can usually find it at hobby shops, Also i have found in years of modeling that super type glues dry slow when they are getting old.
@RinoaLАй бұрын
Yeah I recall Adam Savage using that quickener, and thats good to know about cheap or old glues drying slow

@@RinoaL There's also specific activators/primers, that change the 'low surface energy' of difficult to bond plastics to being a 'higher surface energy', which more readily accepts paints and adhesives, I've got some, and it even enables some glues to stick to silicone tubing, which is a bit crazy.
@54tony379Ай бұрын
you need to dust it first with baking soda

Ive recently heard of that in another video, so thank you. Now to buy some

A good ole' aviation-style proximity switch would be great for that application. B-757-767s were loaded with those and worked quite well.
