Yeah the part where Denji have chainsaws came out of his leg is actually forshadowed in the training last episode! (The scene where Kishibe said "that move you just did were pretty good", then we see denji's pants beign all torn up, also a lot of blade marks on the ground"

Csm's lack of naration and basically simply show don't tell is what I adore so much about CSM, as well as the fact that none of the casts are screaming and explaining their moves like "Ultimate move, Spinning wheel of hell!", "In that attack, I pulled out the force throughtout my entire body so he wouldn't have the time to react, the humidity of the air also helps me initate the attack but most importantnly the sun is setting and he didn't shower and so on- " or whatever you know haha.

A: "that move... he focuses the blood to his right leg, which gave him the ability to grow a chainsaw from his leg! not even captain Kishibe can pull that move!!!" most anime overdo it in every single battle which is kinda annoying (to me)

The door scene was the first scene in ep 1, how the series started. The character at the end is a new character who is going to be important in the upcoming arc. The city Mouse and the country mouse was the story Aki's mom was telling to his little brother.

I know a lot of people will probably ask why the Ghost Devil gave Aki Himeno's cigarette, some might pass it off as plot armor or whatever, but if you're confused i'm here to explain. Ghosts, especially in movies are known for finishing unfinished business, like how most ghosts are victims of abuse, rape, murder, and whatnot. Seeking revenge and the death of the ones who hurt them. The case for Aki is similar, with the Ghost Devil finishing Himeno's unfinished business with Aki, giving him the cigarette she promised to give him in his time of need. No different from the Snake's ability to swallow things and spit it out, because Snakes are known for swallowing their prey's whole. Easy Revenge.

a detail i love is that if you re-watch the first episode, denji's personality is totally different. he is more loyal and talks with respect and doesn't whine about being worked. he is more "humane". his personality really did change and became more chaotic after pochita replaced his heart

Aki's brother was reading the country mouse and the city mouse story in the gun devil flashback. the door scene is also denji's dream. the same dream was also at the beginning of the very first episode (minus pochita)

It's definitely not a mistake to think about things too much in Chainsaw Man. Many of us manga readers keep going back and finding new meanings and connections between characters and events. There is a ton of symbolism hidden in each character and the extra content in the anime has given us more of that aswell!

on the ghost devil, my take is that since Himeno gave up her body to the ghost devil, she somehow became part of it (one of it's arms). Ghost must've retained some feelings from Himeno such that it kept the cig promised for him. This is an "arm" that Himeno gave it kinda.

I think its cause she had unfinished business. For Himeno to move on she needed to give Aki the cig. Ghost probably did that for her.

Remember, Himeno's contract with Ghost was she gave everything she had to Ghost, and vice versa, that's why the Ghost Devil which Aki fights is half Ghost and half Himeno's soul, that's why it gives him the "Easy Revenge" blunt so he puts aside his revenge to Gun Devil for a moment and kill it/her instead to make him accomplish something for his vendetta (avenging Himeno). It's a subtle moment that doesn't need to over-explained like most dramatic Shonen scenes do nowadays, yes, I'm looking at you, Tanjiro

the snake girl (sawatari), she was killed by the snake devil. the snake devil is made of hands, in ep 8 when we first see it, right before it chomps the ghost devil, we see hands coming together to form it. The design might look different in this episode because it’s in 2d and in ep 8 it was in 3d so the design could’ve been unclear.

My guess is that there was still a little bit of Himeno's heart left in the demon of the ghost.

That was indeed the Snake Devil. That's what it's always looked like haha. In terms of the Ghost Devil, Fujimoto really likes to leave things unanswered, leaving the reader/viewer to think for themselves (which I like, because you don't get the weird exposition that doesn't happen irl). One of the implications is that part of the contract Himeno made with Ghost when she gave her whole body to it was to #1, pull Denji's rip-chord, and #2, give Aki that first cigarette that she had on her next chance it got. Since it only sees through fear, when it recognized Aki it stopped attacking him to fulfill the contract with Himeno, as it's required to do. Then since Aki no longer feared it, it couldn't see him anymore to attack as well. The other potential implication is the nature of ghosts and "unfinished business". It could just be the very nature of the Ghost Devil to fulfill the last wishes of those that die to it/around it.

I wanted to do this comment before but well, I think I can do it now it's never too late ! For the moment with the door, Pochita says : "you can't open that door" which is correct but I personaly prefer the french translation where he says "Denji, never open the door". It makes more sense because "you can't open that door" sounds like he litteraly can't, whereas "never open the door" sounds more terrifying and creepy, and even more when you know why Pochita says this.

Sawatari _was_ killed by the snake devil (or by someone controlling it). It's been made of arms since the first time we saw it, though on a quick glance they might look like teeth or ridges, and it's always had quite a pointy shape, more like an alligator or crocodile than a snake (if said alligator or crocodile were made up of intertwined grey arms).

I think the next arc will be a film since they adapted 4 and a half volumes this season, and Part 1 of the manga is 11 volumes long, which means too much for just only a second season, but not enough for three seasons. The following arc is a good length for a film and then they can re-edit into episodes to lead into Season 2 (just like Demon Slayer did) which will adapt the remaining arcs of Part 1.

I have always interpreted that the ghost devil sacrificed itself in thar final fight. My interpretation is that he is somewhat being "controlled" by the snake but that control is pretty loose, so he gives aki a hint to help him.

In the 1st episode when pochita was wounded at the graveyard (the wound looked like a bullet shot). That explains that the gun devil and pochita have their backstory. Meanwhile the door scene with younger denji in his dreams reminded me right before denji saved pochita in episode 1, denji felt a flash of his dad's suicide image before offering his blood to pochita so the door might be tied to his dad's backstory (memories or trauma) in which pochita is trying to prevent denji from regaining that trauma. These are my theories.

So the convention with manga adaptations is that they usually adapt 3 manga chapters to one episode of anime. This Snake & Katana major arc was 38 chapters, relatively easy to adapt for a 12 episode season. But the issue is that Chainsaw Man is a pretty dense series content wise and the entire Part 1 of the story is just 97 chapters long. And the next major arcs are 14, 17 and 28 chapters in length, which makes it awkward to adapt in a seasonal format. Will they adapt the shorter ones as movies? Or combine them to one season and pad out the final arc?

This cour ends at chapter 38 out of the 97 chapters of part 1. There are 59 chapters left. I honestly could see them going either way. Pacing ramps up from here, so they could possibly fit the remaining chapters into the second cour. But i do see it equally likely they make the final arc of part 1 a movie. But that will obviously blue ball western fans cuz we'll have to wait to watch it. And it will be even worse if you cant make it to the theater.

The craziest best moments of CSM hasn't been animated yet. This is all just build up and S1 doesn't even fully cover the build ups . I don't think this anime still hasn't hit for so many people yet. As fast paced as it may seem there's still a lot to go before the ultimate pay off at the arc finale and that payoff finale is one of the biggest reasons that made the popularity of CSM grow this much.
