It’s the same reason why British artists sing with American accents. It’s just more standard sounding. So why was it wrong when she did it? Why Addel ain’t being told she is faking an American accent?. Right… cause it’s always about race.

She put on a whole black accent and acted like she actually lived the lifestyle she raps about it is cringe and wrong. Eminem actually is an asshole however he did grow up living the things he raps about has respect appericate for rap and hip hop and his accent is not fake he grew up in Detroit. I have no comment on Macklemore because he made one song and disappeared and he does not seem to do or say much lol but if you would of said Jack Harlow Machine Gun Kelly or Vanilla Ice I would of agreed with you now those guys are fake and should be called out more often.

Fr. Honestly if she just kept her mouth closed, stopped responding to all the criticism and using social media as her diary to vent she probably would’ve avoided a lot of this stuff. Haters feed off of attention. When you respond to controversy you’re only feeding it and it grows. Even if you’re in the right, it can still not go in your favor. It’s better to not respond to everything.

To me she was a no nonsense girl in a genre that doesn't accept that coming from a white woman. She was right in her responses but people would conveniently only see the reaction and not what caused it. People really tried to police her, how she sings, the language she use, etc. and she just answered to that. You do the same thing as white artists to a black woman and all hell would break loose. It's the hipocrisy for me.

She didn’t do nothing wrong, or half as bad as some of the artists that are popular today. I was never a huge fan but I feel so bad for her after all the work she did just to have the industry turn on her like that. I honestly suggest all artist to try to make it independently. This is the thing for me… as Black Americans many of us have no problem with others respectfully participating in our culture. The whole world does at this point… the problem is people pretending they’re not participating in or emulating our culture. The second issue is reducing our culture to “ratchet” stereotypes. Iggy has done all of these things at one point or anther but has denied it. That’s the issue. I think she’s gorgeous, smart, clearly driven to move across the globe at 16 and I’ve seen videos of her with Trixie Matel 😂 that have shown her personality. She seems very sweet and cool. It’s just… don’t worship Tupac, become a rapper, move to ATL, start rapping in an ATL “blaccent”, get a BBL and lip filler, exclusively date Black men, have a Black child, benefit off the Black community and then act as if your whole personality isn’t built around Blackness. 😂 That’s all girl. That would be like me moving to Japan, building my whole personality around Japanese culture, getting cosmetic procedures to look Japanese, and then pretending that I wasn’t inspired by Japanese culture. People would have an issue with that but when it’s the other way around no one cares. 🤷🏽‍♀️😩

She was attacked and things were made impossible for her from the start. And although I respect your opinion and point of view. what I gather in what you wrote it seems that a white women should not rap, date a black man or like any black rappers because it’s not her culture. People should respect, honor, and love other people for who they are and not the color of their skin or what culture they belong to because if not, that cycle will never end.

Loved Iggy Azalea since she came out with “Work”. The reason she fell off is because she didn’t have media training and she had a very fiery personality when someone was picking at or with her. That’s why some people in the rap game basically bullied her out of the way. She wasn’t gonna let anyone talk mess or be slick towards her simply because she’s a white girl. Then of course you had the toxic stans constantly trying to start beef with her and Nicki when there really wasn’t any. Nicki didn’t even see her as a threat until Iggy started taking all the features as the “token rap girlie”. Which brought out Nicki’s competitive side and of course Iggy was no match for the Queen of Rap. Though she did have a mean pen. There was also that verse controversy which I think was a Kendrick song if I’m not mistaken.

I have to say I can see where everyone is coming from on this... I don't think most people's issues with Iggy are actually personal but what she represents in a time where we're still very often seen as less than yet a white person comes in and makes bank emulating our art and labour where most of us would never see the same level of success with her level of talent. That said, she left home at 16, a baby, and had a predator who knew her from even younger in her myspace days waiting to prey on and groom her. Then when she had success without him he tried to claim her. I do buy that she didn't realise it would be cultural appreciation cause she grew up emulating black folks from the States and she was taken in by black folks when she moved there who clearly said nothing. That said, that doesn't excuse her from not accepting that it's wrong once she's told it's wrong. I agree with her that women in the entertainment industry in general are far more harshly criticised. What she did is almost nothing compared to Tim Burton saying black people don't meet his aesthetic and even after that people watch Wednesday and love Beetlejuice 2 with the only black people in it being a racial stereotype from 50 years ago. I think she must've wished on a monkey paw or something cause while I guess she made a buck people seem to actually hate her and for why really?

Why do i suddenly like her more now. If anything this video just showcases how disliked you are if you're rapper and also white 💀 I feel kind of bad her now to be honest, I always thought that she brought it all on herself but to be honest she didn't have a chance to begin with..

The more I learn about Iggy, the more i like her. She was unique: Blonde, Australian, stauesque, and had the 'It' factor. Shoulda been handled better by the (mostly) men who guided her career and been on some real pop rap legend shit now.

Please, please make one of Justin Bieber and how the media completely bullied the hell out of a KID. Because the hatred Justin was getting in 2009 and 2010 was crazy. They were going after him with torches as if he had committed the worst crime. And how weird people were regarding him, touching him inappropriately, etc.

First, who the hell is Azeala Banks? Seriously... I have NEVER heard of this person. Second, the balls for some of these people to gang up on her, throw shade at her without ever knowing her, and then lie about her for no reason. And finally, the ones that pulled the Race Card on her are the worst. Claiming Rap is a "Black culture thing, and isn't for White people." Huh. I guess that the NBA and NFL should be WHITE ONLY then... right? Both sports created by Whites. Anyone? Also, rap and hip hop is world wide now. These same people gonna go to Mexico, Canada, South America, The UK. France, Germany, The Middle East, and literally ALL OF ASIA to tell everyone there that they can't Rap because... you know wherenI am going with this. All of this just comes down to 2 things: Ignorance and unfathomable Jealousy! Iggy was it and they weren't. They couldn't handle it.

Iggy’s biggest mistake will be heavily aligning herself with these black men in the rap industry. I get it, they have a lot of power and access in hip hop. But they will NEVER stand by you when things go left and they have no politics 🤦🏾‍♀️

No shade, but I never ever thought this girl was a good rapper lol Fancy was just OKKK because of the hook. She was not good in my opinion. Then she tried to use slavery as a punchline for attention just to flop smh Sad. After awhile we only knew her for arguing online with her zesty baby daddy lol smh But her ex bf and ex manager was totally disgusting for coming after her like that and trying to sell her tape and get money from her smh he is trash for that and seemed very desperate. And I will neverrrr forget that “freestyle” she did on that concert stage that no one could figure out wth she was saying lmao that will forever be hilarious 😂😂😂

It was knit picking bullies doing what they do best - being hateful and jealous. I can't stand Azalea Banks for a myriad of reasons and Snoop is a regular dick to many. I love Iggy. She's not sought out to hurt a soul. I hope she's doing ok right now. I can't imagine going through the kind of crap she did

This is kind of surreal. She was definitely a part of some of the songs I listened to when I was basically in Highschool. I would listened to a few of her songs just a couple of times. But the one song for some reason is still stuck with me to this day, was her ‘Heavy Crown’ where she sang With Ellie Goulding Around 2014. I think because it was featured in the trailer from one of my favorite movie franchises, Kingsman.

I usually love deep dives, but there’s a lot missing in this video. How she got with her baby father, and how the Kendrick controversy put a nail in her coffin in terms of how she was perceived by the public was a huge part of her flopping and this video barely touches the surface of that

Jealous of what? I would love to know what Banks would be jealous of? Do white women think this highly of themselves that all women of colour want to be you guys? Like you guys walk around with this fat head? I honestly got to know. The narcissism in white women should be studied.

Okay but how come justin timberlake, justin bieber, and even Eminem (in all his glory & talent) are allowed to take part in black culture dress like us, talk like us, act like us and so on, but iggy got attacked so badly? Why is it so normalized to clown on "white chicks" that act "ghetto" y'all just don't like "ghetto" women period. Whether they're black, white, asian, if they got a uterus, and they wanna rap about it, y'all find a reason to hate on them. And her race and alledge "appropriating" was the perfect topic to slander her for. Its sad, and Azealia Banks and Nikki should know first hand what its like for female rap to be taken as a joke. Every women that enters this game constantly feels as though they have to prove their worth whilst the men get away with all sorts of things simply because its a male dominated genre and it's just not fair. I feel bad for her and all aspiring female rappers need to stop looking for all these notorious men to raise them up to stardom because it will and ALWAYS backfires. Always.
