What sucks about traps that you want to kill someone is that totems nullify about 90% of designs
@Corzappy

It’s redeemed by the fact that the only time traps like these are useable is on SMP servers where people usually carry shields.

@@CorzappyI don't get why anyone would ever carry a shield. Clogs up the screen, feels slow and clunky, and isn't as good as a totem
@BluBird12
@BluBird12 11 ай бұрын
@danielom8446 The reason people carry shields is because they block 90% of anything that can hurt you. What I mean by that is this. For example. End crystal? Blocked, no dmg. Creepers, arrows, swords, tnt? All blocked. People in the late game will probably carry both as the shield is just so damn strong, and the totem is a op safety net that can be farmed. Totems are great when you got alot of expensive gear and are just wandering around and don't want to die to say. The creeper you didn't hear or the huge ravine you just jumped into. Both have their ups and downs, but generally, in a pvp zone, a shield is favored until they know they need to pull out a totem cause armor durability is a thing. (Or they just carry xp pots and 30 totems) Edit: Also, they're slow to deploy because server lag but if you're talking about movement. Being able to 100% block any damage for basically free while crawling is worth it because then that leaves the enemy open to attack

I found your videos recently after looking for trap designs to get back at my friend on an SMP and to be honest I've been captivated by all of your somewhat wacky machines and unconventional redstone. One thing I'd change is timestamp your videos so there's sections of technical explanation and actual design showcase.

"That's exactly 0.2 seconds, which doesn't sound like much" I love that you pointed out the time it takes, since people don't ever realize just how fast human reaction time. The average human reaction time is only 0.25 seconds, so more experienced players are able to react that much faster to it

Would be cool if in the future there were a way (if there is not already one that I just can't think of) to detect reasonably precise player position when they're in the air. I think an air-defense concept would be incredibly cool since most players travel around by elytra.

Slowness potions are a good ideal for players to be victimized by the creeper trap. If the trap is designed where defence and resistance don't matter, turtle master is a great alternative. Before you argue, yes, turtle master may give the player the chance to survive the charged creeper trap due to the high resistance however, if they get ambushed, it be difficult to escape unless they have ender pearls in their possession. This idea requires knowing how to construct the trap and you or having an ally who is good at PVP situations while close to the trap. Combine the trap with an ender pearl status chamber (preferably very hidden) and the combative can ambush as soon as the trap is triggered.

I was actually fooling around with this stuff earlier today, and a better pitfall trap might not even need a trap. Try power 2 rails with a sensor and the rails have 10 tnt minecarts. When you run over it, the carts move and explode, launching the player upwards, well past safe fall distance. To reduce the damage to the ground, just surround it in obsidian so below isnt destroyed, only the top layer of covering soil.

what about the trap that's made of (~20) minecart tnts and a sculk sensor? i'm pretty sure that can one shot anyone at maximum gear and enchants (not sure about totems though).
@zucchinibyday
@zucchinibyday 11 ай бұрын
Its actually relatively easy to just sprint past a trap like that. All of the tnt carts explode in a single vertical column and arent pushed to the side, so if you pass thru the area fast enough you can avoid significant damage. This is because when an explosion hits a tnt cart, it instantly explodes instead of moving, so the radius overall is quite small

Go to the superflat, pick a preset, and in that menu there should be a text box. You can swap the "grass_block" in the standard preset with like "smooth_quartz", and change the number next to it to like 20 so you have 20 layers of it. You should be able to entirely remove the dirt layer if you want, or swap it with something else. Alternatively, guides or generators likely exist online.
