I just purchased this exact unit off Amazon solely because of your reviews John. I thank you for all the awesome vids you do and I look forward to watching more of them soon. That said, Insta-Pot, if you ever watch this, you should totally refund this man his money and give him other units you make free to test in the future. His vids are why I bought this machine and I'm sure why many other people purchased as well. This man is the best salesman you have. He's honest, upfront, detailed and real. You owe him big time. in my honest opinion. Just saying.

Just got mine for Father's Day. Here's my recipe for fresh-cut fries that mimics my traditional double-fry in peanut oil method. Spuds are par-cooked in microwave first so less time is needed in air fryer. This helps keep fries creamy inside and crispy on outside. Food coloring drops helps creates classic gold brown color. Peel 1-4 russet or Idaho potatoes (depending upon size) Use fry cutter or cut by hand into consistently-sized sticks (about .75 cm). Rinse thoroughly in cold water. Pat dry. In small bowl, whisk 3 teaspoons peanut oil, 1 drop red food coloring, 1 drop yellow food coloring, 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt (adjust for larger or smaller batches). Thoroughly mix oil mixture with potatoes. Place in a covered microwavable bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Pour mixture into air fryer basket. Air fry at 400 for 5 minutes. Turn over/move around fries. Air fry for another 3-4 minutes. Continue according to taste and crispiness preference. Note: I have a small family, but you can prep and par-cook a much larger batch and air fry in smaller batches for efficient crisping. Experiment with proportions.

I find a hack for making more fries at once! Put a nice amount of fries in the bottom of the instapot as shown. Then place the broil/ dehydrating tray on top and place more fries on that. I cooked at 400 degrees f for 25 mins. I flipped them at the 15 min mark. I’m going to try this next wing dings next! Oh yeah and to take the tray out to flip the fries on the bottom over I had to use two of my hand mixer beaters. I stuck the ends of them into the small holes of the tray, pulled back at a slight angle and pulled it up and out.

Hey buddy. still want to do my impression of you. FYI I bought one largely based on your reviews. I cooked a pair of vacuum packed pork chops in sous vide function and they turned out great albeit one was a little more done than the other and I think that is due to lack of water circulation since the one closer to the bottom of the pot where the element is is probably getting a little more heat than the the one above it so for those of you who are following along, I recommend with the sous vide function you flip the meat around occasionally to ensure even and equal cooking. I would say this probably even applies to single portions so you don't get one side of the meat cooked more than the other. Keep up the good work my friend.

Thanks for sharing! I think the internal temp of a frozen french fry needn't be 190+ F, given that it's precooked. The only real objectives, here, are browning the exterior and thawing & heating the inside to a reasonable serving temperature -- something like 130 F.

I took air fryer out looked in bottom, and was oil and one small dab of bbq sauce. Maybe I should have washed pan, although there didn't seem to be anything after pressure. I will try that next time. Hi john. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and I’ve been enjoying all of them. Great content. I especially like that you respond to a lot of the comments. A lot of the instant pot channels that I’ve been watching don’t do that. So thank you for that. I do have a question for you. I can’t help but thinking that preheating is sort of a moot point. It just seems like after you preheat and then take the lid off to put the food in it would lose a lot of the heat. When you put the food in and lid back on what is the temperature at compared to before you take the lid off?
@JohnSanders
@JohnSanders 5 жыл бұрын
I do not always preheat, at least for certain items but it does heat the pot and basket... and the heat loss is minimal, it also might help some items that have a lot of surface moisture but honestly it's hard to say and it might be fine to not preheat, I just normally do with French fries and of course with things like steak for searing purposes even though it might be minimal...thanks for watching!
