Thank you for this video! The instruction manual was horrible! Also, I found very confusing, the red liner that is present in the top of the box when you open it, thinking that this was something I needed to install, since in the instruction manual their image of the liner is red. Once I saw that you did not have to add that on top of the already installed clear liners, that made so much more sense. Obviously with the red liner in, the lid would not close.

@PainttheKitchenRed
@PainttheKitchenRed 3 жыл бұрын
Srikanth, place the vegetables in a steamer basket and place it on a steam rack in the inner pot, (add water to right below the level of the rack). Use the Pressure Cook function on high pressure. Cook time depends on the type of vegetable. Broccoli is 1 minute or even 0 minutes (i.e. press cancel the moment it starts to count down). Cubed potatoes about 2 minutes.

@@simplesingh4685 sorry, I have so many Instant Pots, I got confused :) I was thinking this was a comment on my Duo Evo Plus video! For Idli, you can program it to pressure cook for 12 minutes, but keep the steam release in the venting position so it won't come to pressure. Make sure you have enough water in the bottom. Or you can use Saute mode, and put on a glass lid.

Hi Vinita, the pressure cook button is a good substitute. If you're wishing to steam something like idli you should keep the steam release in "Venting" while you do the pressure cooking. Otherwise if you're following a recipe that tells you to use the steam button, just substitute the pressure cook button. The difference between the steam button and pressure cook is the steam heats up faster. Hope that helps.

Most of the KZbin videos I watch for Instant Pot is that they have the "manual button." Mine is an "instant pot duo gourmet multi- use pressure cooker." Which doesn't have a manual button. I tried making rice but mostly the rice sticks to the bottom of the pot. Which is annoying to clean all the rice off. I dont know if I I should add oil to my instant pot while cooking rice. The next thing I was gonna do is beans and mac and cheese but, I want to make rice where it doesn't stick to the bottom bowl of my instant pot. Any ideas?
@PainttheKitchenRed
@PainttheKitchenRed 3 жыл бұрын
Jesse, the "manual" button is the same as the "pressure cook" button. Yes, the rice does stick to the bottom of the stainless steel inner pot. You can reduce the mess by spraying the inner pot with cooking oil before cooking the rice. Some people choose to use a nonstick inner pot. I don't use one. You can also try the "pot-in-pot" cooking method for rice. No mess, and serve and store in the same bowl. Only downside is you can only make a smaller quantity (2 cups raw rice) in a 6 quart.

Hi Nila, they're both good - I use both - so you can't go wrong. The plus point for the Ultra is you can super-customize the programs. The plus point for the gourmet is it's easier to program, the Ultra has a bit of a learning curve. I don't think the customization functionality of the Ultra is applicable to most regular users so I would pick the Gourmet and it's also less expensive. Hi Amanda, no, the button will be up (in sealing position) when you're pressure cooking. You can steam veggies using the Pressure Cook button. The time depends on the type of veggie. Some vegetables just need zero to one minute and others need 3 to 4 minutes. @PainttheKitchenRed
@PainttheKitchenRed 3 жыл бұрын
It can take some time for the 'On' to turn to 12 minutes depending on how much rice and water you're cooking. First, you'll see steam coming out of the float valve and then you'll see the float valve come up, and then the countdown begins. I do hear from some people who say it never goes from 'On' to a countdown. If that happens, just set a timer manually and then press Cancel when the timer is up. If it happens again and again then you may have a defective unit.

Sonal, this model does not have a Cake button, but you can use the pressure cook function. So if you're following a recipe, just use Pressure Cook instead of Cake. However, I do want to caution you that you can't "bake" a cake in the Instant Pot (except for the Duo Evo Plus which has a bake-like function), so you're basically steaming a cake. Personally I only like to use it for cheesecakes or lava cake. However there are many recipes out there for cakes, bread pudding, etc. Try and see what you think.

@@sonalraval4138 no, don't get the LUX model. I don't care for it because it doesn't have the features you'll need. Read this post of mine if you want to find out about the pros and cons of the different IPs. In the table of contents, click on "compare instant pots": www.paintthekitchenred.com/instant-pot-buy/
