Really enjoying how thorough you are. Keep up the excellent work. I like watching and learning. Now, if I ever get an Instant Pot I'm sure it'll be more useful knowledge. LOL. Hope you have a great week.

I’d suggest that you do a test on Porridge mode too, ‘cause Instant Pot usually takes a significant amount of time to actually get it going if comparing to other brands.

Quick question I plan on getting one I am finally upgrading from a rice cooker ,my question is if I am using the pressure cooker settings does it auto change the time to how ever much is in the pot ? Or is that only for the rice setting

I do not recommend Instant Pot to cook rice at all. With my old rice cooker, it took 20 mins to cook 3 cups of rice and it came out perfect. Very little cleaning afterwards was needed. With the instant Pot Duo Nova, it took almost 2x as long (35 mins) to cook as others have commented that it took a long time to build up and release pressure for the rice to cook. The rice came out bad (super mushy and gray in color instead of the white rice color). Then, there were all the cleanings on the small accessories (sealing ring, condensation cup, release valve, silicone cup, etc). At the end of the day, it was just way too much work (the longer cooking time and extra cleanings) for a simple pot of rice. Will be returning my Instant Pot pronto.

3 mins high pressure, 10 min natural release, manual release after that. No need to use the rice button.

I agree, Chloe C! Made me wonder what all the fuss is about with this "pot". Now, I could see if you were doing a lot of "meat" cooking because that "pressure" would probably produce some pretty tender meat. But I'm only interested in rice, beans and veggies. Just seems like way too much time and button pushing for that.

Korean households use "the finger digit: water ratio." You will never have nasty dry rice.

What if there's potatoes, celery, onions, carrots and rice ? Would it be 1:1 with the "rice" auto setting? What about the "pressure cook" setting ? Thanks so much!

How long does it take to cook a smaller lot of rice- say 2 cups? I currently do this on stove top via the absorption method, bring to boil and simmer 12mins and it's ready. Just wondering if its possible (in smaller or larger instant pots) to have it ready in under 15mins or does it always take nearly 50mins?

Can you tell me the ratio of water for cooking quinoa?

The rice cooking feature of this device using just plain white rice. It all sounded quite confusing! And it seems like a LOT of time vs just using a regular pot on the top of the stove with some water!

I found mine odd it took 12 minutes to auto adjust the cooking time to 14 min. I wonder what was happening inside the pot in those 12 min.

Rice to water ratio: 1:1 If making a larger quantity of rice: 1 and 1/4: 1
@hotkimchi58032 жыл бұрын
Just add water until it reaches the first digit of your middle finger from the top of the rice. It's fool proof.
