I own these racks. Love them. I recently heated up some pork for BBQ pork on the bottom of the Instant Pot. Put in the taller of the two racks over the pork set my streamer pan on top. Warmed the meat on the bottom and streamed vegetables at the same time worked great. Making eggs with the racks works great. On Sunday I make a weeks worth. They are always easy to peel! Enjoy your videos and your recipes.

First time in my 66 yrs. that I could successfully peel hard boiled eggs, without them having thousands of little pieces wedge under my nails and cause me to throw some out due to whites ripping off, etc...thank you for lowering my stress level...I bought one of those racks, too

I cook 18-24 eggs with the trivet that comes with the IP and I just put all the eggs on top of each other. Never had a problem. I also cook 5 mins, NR for 4 mins and run them under cold water for a minute and peel them right away. I love how easy they peel!

Did you know if you use the steam feature instead of pressure you can do a quick release and cut your time in half? Works perfectly. 😘

I probably boil eggs more than anything else in the IP. I love it! I just put a dozen eggs in the trivet with a cup of water and pressure cook for three minutes, immediately quick release, and then transfer them to the cold water. I like my eggs somewhat softer in the middle, for those of you who prefer an egg with a slightly under cooked yolk.

Thanks Jeff. I have successfully used your method for hard boiled eggs in my IP. The eggs peel so easily and perfectly, but do at times seem overdone, so I have adjusted the time. I don't refrigerate my eggs, so they are room temperature, which could be why they cook a little faster. I only have a single rack and have stacked eggs on top of each other to get more in the pot.

I do six at a time in my duo, 7 min manual, Quick Release, Ice Bath -- I usually leave them in the ice bath until all the Ice melts. The advantage of 7 min and quick release is that I don't have to worry about Natural Pressure Release time, so I find it easier. I was doing the 5-5-5, but found that the eggs were overcooked.

Lisa Mieth use six tea bags, fill your insta pot half full. Use a sweetener you usually use. Take a small pinch of baking soda to control the bitterness that tea can give of. Secure lid and let it go three minutes. Once the pot is done remove bags and pot from cooking element and let it cool before you put in to the fridge.

I just got my instant pot and i’m really excited about it. But how do you gauge cook times, to quick release or not to quick release, etc. those are the real questions. I’m genetically incapable of following a recipe, so I am watching videos to try to get the hang of it. Any general guidelines? Your videos are my favorites btw!!!!
@michaelmacdonald334

As a general rule, you use NPR (Natural Pressure Release) on meats. If you QR (Quick Release) on meats, they become tough and dry. Use QR for vegetables, and if you are going to add veggies to your main to cook towards the end of the main's cooking cycle. I also use NPR for my rice. I cook two to three cups of sushi rice for eight minutes, and use NPR for ten minutes. I rinse my rice two or three times first, and then soak for fifteen minutes in water (I learned that from Alton Brown's off of one of his Good Eats shows, 😊).

If you are making egg salad or some dish where you are going to dice tbe egg and don't need them to hold a boiled egg shape just crack them into a shallow bowl before placing them in thd pressure cooker. When they are done you don't have to peel them at all! Just dice them and it couldn't be easier.

If you are adding the one cup of water, then I'd say you have a seal issue. Take it out, wash it and the lid once or twice each, and then try again. If you have an eight quart IP, you might need more water... I'm not entirely sure about the minimum requirements of liquid in an eight quart, I just own a three quart and a couple six quarts.

Fooey. I've tried every trick on youtube on how to boil and peel eggs without tearing them up. But I notice virtually every video is using brown eggs. I never tried. and only use store bought white eggs which the shells are micro thin. Only success I've had is to let the eggs keep a couple weeks in the fridge. My neighbors give me fresh duck eggs. The shells are twice as thick and peel easily. I'm still awaiting a successful trick on how to boil and peel fresh store bought white eggs.
