Instant Pro Mastering Chain (Ableton Devices Only + Free Rack)

I made a ableton stock plugin only mastering rack that allow your to easily ''homemade'' master your track.
I will always recommend to get your track mastered by a Mastering Engineer that does that for a living, but if you just finish a track and want to see how it compete with other, or want to try it in the club, a quick ''homemade'' mastering can help you with that, and this rack does that. With few tweak you get a nice sounding master.

Great stuff Paul. Your material always leaps out the speakers. Know what you mean about a dedicated engineer etc. I use T-RackS 5-Max myself. Lots of useful presets to use as a starting point & I am (slowly) getting better at it.

thanx mate! As I was going through the whole rack to see how everything is mapped, I stumbled upon one effect called COLOR LIMITER, and that's nowhere to be found in my ABL11

it's part of the free max for live pack called Creative RExtension, you can download it and install it striaght away from ableton, at the Pack place.

working fine on my side, tdo you have the last ableton live suite update (11.3) ? try dto drag and drop from ableton (via the library place) or try to drag and drop straight from your desktop to ableton.

Why dont use the Ableton utility for width correction/control? You can even switch the utility to a mid/side tool using right click. Btw, i like the short preview of the raw techno track pretty much, well done. :)

i use already utility to add a bit of width. But not in ms mode, I never really played with utility in ms mode, even with eq I try to avoid, I am never really happy with the result

When we apply this on our master, our level of dbs on the master should be at -6dbs?

It depend, but the more room you leave for improvement the better, if you hit at -1 or -2 , you won't be able to improve that much. I think -6 it's a "standard" Recommendation because it leave you enough headroom to improve your sound, going below that is unnecessary I think, you can go above but then you will be quickly squashing everythint

you're welcome, make sure you use live suite 11.3 and that you have the creative expansion pack, its a free pack from ableton where you have the color limiter i used in the rack.

You will not regret it. I've bought 3 wavetable packs and one operator one and also the possessed samples + the solid techno kicks. All of them are freaaaaaaking great and super easy to use! If you decide to delve a little deeper and mess around with the macros you can get some amazing results. I have pretty much learned all I know in Ableton Wavetable because of @audioreakt.

i still have problems with my mixes. on my sennheister 560S headphones and on my studiomonitors it sounds good like other famous tracks / artists ... but in my car or on other systems it sounds boxy. not muddy ... just boxy :/ any ideas ? btw another awesome video ^^ thx

I don't think writing in the car is the solution, as it might sound good in your car but then horrible every where else... Referencing is key, but like everything in music production, your get better (and your ears) with experience.

@Schallkoma_Rockenberg What you are experiencing is call translation. Like @audioreact already said, referencing is so important. Get yourself the right tools like a proper A/B listening tool and check some of you fav tracks with an analyser. Sonible and Mastering the Mix have both pretty good tools for this. For A/B listening I can recommend Metric AB.

you will get an adg file which is the ableton audio effect rack preset. you need to drag and drop this file straight into your ableton and save it to your library
