Texas fan here. I've seen every Texas game over the last 15 years. I also watch a lot of International volleyball, both amateur and pro. I feel your pain. I also admire your take on the game. But I have to say, I'm having a hard time understanding volleyball fans. There has never been an NCAA women's volleyball team, including this Texas team that could have survived the level of play we saw from Texas in the championship match. The only way any team would be able to be competitive in that game was to play at that same level. The odds of two teams with championship level talent both playing at that level are incredibly slim. We're talking every single player playing at their best, in unison with every other player. In the game of volleyball, there is no maintaining against that level of play. Dominant serving throws everything out of sync. Even if you do make the pass and the set, you are facing a block at peak performance. Texas was firing on all cylinders. Even if you do get a shot off, it's being dug. When it's dug, the passing is at peak level, set to a hitter who is hitting at peak level. It wasn't just the service. It was the block. It was the dig. It was the pass. It was the shot. And it was being done by a team loaded with talent. Madison Skinner is phenomenal. O'Neal is capable of playing on the US Team. Wenaas had come alive in the tournament and is a very proficient striker and was blocking. Texas bringing in a 6'3" setter who is obviously very talented and a presence at the net was severely overlooked by almost everyone all year. A 6'3" setter added to a blocking team is a much bigger deal than was made all year. Next year, she will be regarded as one of the most valuable players in the country. Emma Halter spent her first year on defense aside Fleck and started blossoming the last half of the season. The evolution of her development as libero was sky-rocketing coming into the tournament. Barnes was a senior transfer from A&M-Corpus Christi whose defense and serve really came alive in the tournament. Gotta hand it to the Texas coaching staff on that transfer. Texas had been swept by Kansas State towards the end of the season. Think of that. What we experienced was a rare phenomenon of everything coming together at the perfect time on a team with championship level talent. The days of overwhelming teams with talent are over. The talent pool is much deeper than it was just a few years ago and will continue to deepen. Frankly, amazing players are becoming a dime a dozen. Volleyball is a great sport that is about all the parts of the clock working in unison and more and more, that's what it's going to take. There is no guarantee that Texas or Nebraska will be in the final 4 next year. Both will enter the season loaded with talent and experience but in the end, it will come down to who is hitting on all cylinders. No matter how great certain players are at this or that, any weakness will be exploited by talent on the other side of the net. A lot to look forward to and the moral of my story is, in the case of this championship, it had nothing to do with any failure on the part of Nebraska. It wasn't because they were unprepared. It wasn't because they were inexperienced. It wasn't because they were over confident. They simply ran into a team with championship level talent, playing at a level rarely seen at the college level.

I watched the Texas-Wisconsin game and the Texas serve worried me, but I felt our blocking would be too much for them. Sadly, it wasn't. Great season for the Husker volleyball team, and I don't see how they don't start next season #1.

It was still a good year. They set records.. won the Big 10.. earned a lot of individual awards.. and ended up getting a runner up trophy at the end of the year… all this with a young team with no seniors and tons of freshmen. Yes it would have been nice to have them play better in this game , but the young pups ran into a buzzsaw… a talented veteran team that was red hot. Shake this one off… look back and appreciate the great year they had. Next year they will learn from this and be better.

There was talk about how the cooler air around the floor made the ball drop more suddenly and all types of excuses. The ball should have also dropped when NE served TX so that doesn't fly! The bottom line is these girls were not properly prepared! We all saw the TX vs WI match and there is no way the same strategy should have worked again against the Huskers.

I was very disappointed by our performance in this game. We were on fire throughout the tournament, but today, it seemed like they barely tried. Hardly any diving for balls. Lots of just standing around. #13 had a very "off" day. I don't get it. Just an "off" day all around. Getting swept in the championship to a team that barely made it there. On a side note - what's the deal with espn belittling volleyball?? They barely have anything about it on their site. No dedicated page for it. It's randomly under "college sports". It makes me sad for the female athletes.

I am so embarrassed for the Husker fans. Secondhand embarrassed because this is the National Championship Match. I cannot believe they let a random highschool Nebraska team through to this final round to literally embarrassed themselves on National television. This SHOULD NOT be a thing. NCAA, you need to do better than letting a random college team to the Championship match just for ratings, money, and sponsorships. It's always personal to Texas to beat Nebraska no matter if they admit it or not. Especially this time when they heard that Nebraska fans would rather play Texas than Wisconsin for a better chance of winning the title. That I believe, made it very personal and lit the fire for Texas. Don't think Nebraska would have won it no matter if it was Wisconsin or Texas. Wisconsin was picked to win it all this year. The elders taught the young bloods a lesson. Don't always believe in the hype.

Just remember what this team accomplished in one year. They set a world record. That feat sparked over thiry womens' sports records to be broken this year. It led to more than one volleyball game air on a major network during an NFL Sunday this year. What they did for womens sports is huge. To take credit for a great job by the Texas team that humiliated Nebraska is unprofessional. Texas simply nullified Nebraska and kicked Nebraska's ass. It did Nebraska no good to have set a world record, to have broken over 30 records, to have lost only two games and to have one of their games broadcast on a major network on a Sunday. Every team wants to be champions, the rest is secondary. The Aces, the blocks, the digs, the kills, and even the errors are all part of the game. Being disappointed when a game is so lopsided isn't automatically belittling the opponent. I'm a Texas fan and I wouldn't say they played their worst game of the season. They experienced their worst game of the season. But it wasn't due to their play. I have watched a lot of NCAA volleyball and international volleyball and I have watched every Texas game over the last 15 years. I watch every game in the NCAA tournament (yes, I have a subscription to ESPN+ so I get to watch them all). I have never seen any team in NCAA Women's Volleyball play at the level Texas did in that championship game. Every phase of the game. It was unrelenting. They played multiple times better than any game of the season other than against Wisconsin and they played at higher level against Nebraska than Wisconsin. The team that beat Nebraska only existed for that one game. What we saw was phenomenal. It was a phenomenon. You Nebraska fans and the Nebraska players and coaching staff are doing the Nebraska team a disservice by saying they played poorly. The lesson to be taken from the game is the level of play to aspire to. To expect achieving it borders on being unrealistic but it's what everyone wants to achieve. Every single player applying service pressure. Every single player making the pass. Every single player moving to open up the shot. Every single player making the required shot. Every single player being where they need to be on defense. Every time a player dives and sticks out their arm, the ball is sent to the setter. That's pretty much what Nebraska players got to experience happening on the other side of the net.
