I live on the beach in FL and those outdoor umbrellas flying around like that are extremely dangerous. There was a lady(tourist) who was impaled by a flying umbrella a couple weeks ago near where I live. Most people don’t realize how dangerous it is. Most people don’t realize how dangerous it is to dig big holes in the sand either. They collapse really quickly and then there’s nothing you can do. People/children die every single year from holes on the beach collapsing. Just recently there was a 7yr old little girl in South FL that was killed by a sand hole she was digging. The family is from Indiana(if I remember correctly) and the parents had no idea how dangerous it was until it was too late. It’s heartbreaking. As a mother myself, I can’t even imagine what they’re going through😭

Two things, that pilot is responsible for properly screening and educating and allowing whoever is co-pilot. If he doesn’t set strict boundaries of do not touch anything unless instructed, that’s on him. And if the pilot doesn’t screen people that can’t follow directions and are impulsive, that’s also on him. Additionally, I get there are emergency mechanisms in place in a cockpit that are easy to reach in said emergency, but that just seems like a bad spot to put a handle that could kill everyone so quickly. Just saying, may need to rethink what’s going on with that handle

The lever disengages the main rotor in the event of an engine loss. This allows the rotor to spend freely, using a principal known as auto rotate. As the helicopter falls from the sky, the wind resistance applies upward pressure to the bottom of the rotors, allowing them to spin, and slowing the aircraft's descent, thus greatly increasing the chance of survival. It works much in the same way that the seed from an oak tree slowly falls to the ground. It is a safety device, and is precisely where it needs to be. The passenger is just a moron.

No, the issue is the helicopter is intended for two pilots, with dual controls, and the operator is too poor to buy a helicopter big enough where the passengers sit away from the controls. There has been at least one fatal crash involving drunk passenger interference with the controls, and more with unintended interference. The problem has also been solved with aircraft that only have one set of controls, or swingover controls.
